Loestrin 24fe

I began taking Loe24fe to try and control my periods and make them more tolerable. (less bleeding and 3-4 day cycle rather than 7) I have been on the pill for about a month and 1/2 and am completely unhappy with its results. I just finished my period 7 days ago, which was VERY heavy and lasted about 4 days. I now am experiencing yet another period, or break-through bleeding, and is extremely heavy and painful cramps. I am already gaining weight and I have always been a very slender person and always maintain the same weight. I have been almost untolerable with my mood swings and irritability, friends and family have noticed a change in me. I have not had any problems with breakouts however. I would definitely not recommend this birth control. What are others thoughts, is anyone else having similar side effects?

This pill (Loestrin24) is not working for me! At all! How much bleeding is ok? In my opinion, only period bleeding is fine with me. I'm on the pill for birth control, my periods have always been regular and short (2-3days). This pill has also made my cramps stronger. Now I'm bleeding practically constantly, and yesterday (a full week before my period is due) I took a shower with my boyfriend during which we both got nervous at the surprise clots and blood. So, as birth control it's working, because I have no interest in sex, and I'm bleeding constantly, so even though he's completely open-minded (and actually a bit fascinated, weirdly enough) this is not sexy! I'm 37, have been on other pills in the past with emotional side-effects and weight gain, none of which is happening here. I'm going to see my doctor Monday -- after panicking and calling her post-shower yesterday. I'll post the results of the visit here. Also, I'm wondering, in terms of stopping the pill...since I'm already bleeding period-style, the temptation was to stop the pill mid-pack. Any thoughts or advice on that? And I've heard there's another kind of Loestrin -- anyone with experience switching there? Also, when are they inventing male birth control???

Im currently on Junel ( generic of loestrin 24) and so far it is good I just have some break through bleeding, nausea, and some mild headaches but other then that its ok. Im going to switch to Loestrin when i get my insurance next month was only on generic until i could switch to Loestrin. The patch was horrible...but im glad i got the generic of the pill if you dont have insurance it is real cheap just 20 dollars a month.

Hoping when i do switch to Loestrin that it will work ok 4 me.

I was prescribed Loestrin because my OB/GYN discovered a cyst on my ovary, and informed me that birth control would treat it. I have been taking Loestrin for a week now and have had no problems. My breast have become slightly tender, and I did have slight nausea on the first few days of taking it. I have mild acne that seems to be clearing up. But I am worried about one thing. My doctor explained to me to give the pill 7 days to reach effectiveness before having unprotected sex, but I had unprotected sex on day 6. Although I had taken my pill earlier that day, I'm worried that I could be pregnant. I have read things saying that the the likelihood of being pregnant is slim because the pill starts to work right away, but I just don't know. Overall I feel my body is responding well to this pill. Will post with more details as time goes on. In the mean time, if someone could offer me some kind of advice and helpful tips about this medicine I would greatly appreciate it!

Swithing birth control pills or starting new or starting again after a long period always reaks havoc on the system. Loestrin 24fe is just like all the rest. The body has to become familiar. Give it a two months and see if the system levels out. It is acceptable to have some irregularity when starting this or any oral contraceptive. One side effect that people often forget is the effects of the added iron. Constipation can add to the discomfort.

I began reading these forums because I took my first months first brown pill, no period. the second day I began spotting, being that this is my first brith control ever I was confused, so I wanted to see what other users had to say. Over all, now that I know that a very light period is normal on this OC I am very relieved! In the second week I missed a day by about 12 hours, I took it as soon as I realized. I had some spotting for about 2 days afterward, but I also got a bladdar infection. I can't be entirely sure that it was caused by the pill, but it was the first that I had ever had. This pill has actually helped my acne, it was never bad to begin with but gone now. My sex drive is normal, no breast swelling, or excited appitite. The only problem I have had is dryness. During the first few moments of sex it can be mildly uncomfortable becauase it is just so dry. My pill with the card is $24 dollars as said, without $97. But it has been a great first experience! I love it!

where are you getting this card that makes it $24? I've had to pay at least $75 bucks each month. That's outrageous for birth control!
