8/11/10   4     2     4     4   I have tried 2 other types of birth control before and one made me constantly throw up for a day, and the other made me extremely tired. I have to take birth control because i have PCOS, so I can't just stop taking it all together. With Loestrin 24, I didn't experience any side effects in the first two months and actually, I had more energy than usual. Now its my 3rd month and I did experience a little nausea and had migranes for the 2 days after i started the new pack because I didn't eat enough with the pill, but besides that I feel great and I haven't gained any weight from it - I actually lost weight!  :)

7/26/10   3     1     3     3   I was on this pill for almost a year. I never liked the way it made me feel and planned to get off of it when going to my OB/GYN. I had a lot of breakthrough bleeding, something I have never had. My **** were very tender and I had more cramps than I usually did off the pill. About two months before going to the doctor for my annual checkup I started having seizures. (I have never had a seizure before) I was on vacation and had to go to a local hospital then had to figure out a way to get home to go to my local hospital. I made the decision to get off Loestrin because I had a bad feeling that was causing the seizures (at this point I'd had them every day for almost a month for hours at a time). A week after stopping the pill the seizures also stopped. I had to take an unpaid break from my jobs for two months. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.  :|

7/7/10   1     1     1     1   I was on Ortho-Tricyclen for a year before this. I had a few side effects with Ortho but they were nothing major. With Loestrin 24 Fe, the first week was fine. As soon as I got to the second week though, I was in a lot of pain. My **** were so incredibly sore from the medicine that I couldn't wear a bra and I would cry if they even got brushed up against something. I have always been a happy person, but on this medicine I literally cried multiple times every day and was anxious constantly.. I felt paranoid and scared. My sex drive was increased a little, but it turned out to be horrible.. since I cried after sex with my fiancee due to me being so emotional from the medicine! Talk about embarrassing! I have had zero appetite and lost 15 lbs already on this. I was put on this medicine to help my painful periods.. my period this month was 4x as bad as usual, heavy, and very painful. I'm going back on Ortho today. I would NOT recommend this! My worst enemy doesn't deserve it!  :(

7/7/10   5     5     5     5   I am on this pill along with Glumetza (extended release Metformin) to treat my (lean) PCOS. Prior to this pill, I had been bleeding for over a month, as soon as I took my first pill, I stopped. I have had no side effects so far (knock on wood). I've weighed myself every day and so far, no changes thankfully! I had taken Yasmin a few years ago for 3 months and ballooned 15 lbs, so that is a big concern of mine. On the flip side, my **** are still the same small size, though not tender as some mentioned, and my skin/hair are still the same. On small issue is that three days ago I changed the time I take the pill from 2pm to 11pm, I've had small black/brown spotting. Up until that point everything was good so I have a feeling that I'm to blame for that one and my body just needs to readjust. I will update at a later time.  :)

6/21/10   5     1     3     4   I took Loestrin 24 Fe for a little over 3 months. The first month I had some spotting and some mood swings but it was nothing major. The second month I experienced a lot of bloating and slight weight gain but nothing drastic. The third month was the WORST :( About a couple weeks in, I started to notice that everything and I mean EVERYTHING, made me cry. Whether it was something happy or sad, sure enough, I would cry. I also noticed that my anxiety levels rose and I felt anxious all the time. I began to have low self esteem and I would try and find reasons why but came up with nothing. After monitoring my mood and doing a little research, I finally realized it was this pill. I recently just changed my birth control pill and am hoping that I start to feel better. It has only been a few days but I do feel happier. This pill is great because of the iron supplement but the mood swings are not worth it. If you start to feel overwhelmingly anxious or sad I would STOP taking this pill!  :|

6/7/10   4     2     4     4   The first three months were torturous. The bleeding was intermittent, unpredictable, and heavier than a normal period. With the exception of breast tenderness, all other side effects subsided. 8 months after starting Loestrin, I moved across the country and got married. It could have been the stress, but I started breakthrough bleeding. This happened for three months. The bleeding was light but happening at least twice a month. Then came the chronic constipation. The iron in Loestrin seemed to be keeping me from normally using the bathroom. The breast tenderness was at a peak. But, the most upsetting was the depression I was falling into. I was crying and sad all the time. I made the decision to stop taking Loestrin 24. I could instantly feel my spirits lifted after I stopped taking the medicine. I'm looking into other birth control options now.  :)

5/2/10   5     5     5     5   I'm 17 years old, 115 lbs, and I've been on this pill for 11 months and it is literally one of the best things that has ever happened to me. The only side effect I ever had was a mild breakout on my face for about two months when I first started the pill after never really having too much of an acne problem. After about two months, however, my acne not only cleared up but the pill has kept my clean completely clear ever since-not one pimple! I never gained any weight, my **** did not grow, if I miss a pill and have to take it the next day-I don't even get nauseous! Also, I used to get my period for like 8 or 9 days and the cramps were unbearable! Now, It literally lasts 2-3 days, it's light, no PMS whatsoever, and I will occasionally have mild discomfort but not enough to need any painkillers! I've heard horror stories about Yaz-mood swings, massive weight gain, terrible morning sickness-it makes Loestrin 24Fe sound like candy :)  :)

4/22/10   4     2     4     1   The first month using Loestrin was fine. Second month had breakthrough bleeding and stomach cramps. Third month no breakthrough bleeding but developed terrible acne (which I have never had before). Acne was so bad on my face that my father commented that it looked like I had the Measles! Fourth month breakthrough bleeding is back and intermittent bad acne! And to top it off, mood swings very bad and noticeable. I have had enough. My old pill (triphasil) did not cause any of these side effects. However, there were other issues that caused me to switch and I thought a "low dose" BC would be better. I guess not this one. It is true that you should give each pill a fair trial because everyone reacts differently, but after four months I have made up my mind to drop this one! Not good for me at all and not worth feeling this bad. I have been taking BC for many years and never reacted this way! Good luck to all!  :|

4/11/10   2     1     3     1   I started taking this pill because after I had my daughter, my periods were extremely heavy and LONG... My doc prescribed me this med. Up until about 3 mths ago all was good. I have not gotten pregnant and my periods were much better, I even skipped a couple of months and got scared I got pregnant. But lately, I have had no energy at all, my **** hurt constantly, and I go in spurts with my sex drive.. I want it then I don't. A few days ago I started bleeding and I am half way through the pack, and it hasn't stopped and my stomach is cramping constantly, I am going to go to call my doc tomorrow and get this fixed now. I am 27 and have a 2 yr old, I cannot stay this tired all the time, I feel terrible, that I don't even wont to play with my daughter, I have became a couch potato, which isn't me at all!!!  :(

4/5/10   5     5     5     5   I've had nothing but positive results with this pill. I'm 21 years old, and I went on it about 9 months ago to try to even out a wild array of hormone imbalances that had plagued me since the start of puberty. I have since seen my acne evaporate, my periods (& cramping!) cease, and my weight drop (from 150 to a much healthier 130). I've experienced no nausea, and only had some spotting in the first few months. It does cost $30 per pack (with insurance), but the impact it has had on my day to day life & happiness is truly invaluable. It's not for everyone (as evidenced by so many of the comments on this page) but darned if I wasn't one of the lucky ones. Starting Loestrin 24 fe was the best health decision I've ever made.  :)

4/4/10   3     1     2     3   I am halfway through my third pack and these have been the most miserable 2.5 months of my life. I bled through the entire first month, had 2 periods the 2nd month and have just started bleeding halfway through the 3rd month. Terrible, constant cramps. I gained 15 pounds almost immediately with NO diet change and actually INCREASING exercise. I cry over everything. Seriously, I am about to cry right now. I have NEVER had skin problems and within 2 weeks my face was covered in acne and I cannot get rid of it. My boyfriend can't stand to be around me I am so moody. I'm always SO irritated, I don't even want to look at him, much less have sex with him. I have had sex ONCE during these 3 months - this pill is not worth the pain. I feel fat, disgusting, ugly, which makes me NEVER want to have sex - EVER. I decided to stick it out for 3 months because that is the recommended time for your body to get used to it, but when this month is over I am ending it forever.  :(

3/24/10   5     5     5     5   I recently switched from Depo to Loestrin 24 Fe. I have finished all the active pills in my first pack and start the iron/placebo pills today. The first day I had a very slight headache and the first week very minor spotting, but that could also have something to do with stopping the Depo. I did have a bit of breast increase, but no complaints with that. :) Other than that, ZERO side effects. I get it for $24 a pack for the first year with the patient savings card which is great since I have no insurance at the moment. I was scared to try it after reading so many bad reviews, but I am VERY pleased with this brand. Definitely give it a try!  :)

2/21/10   5     1     3     5   I went on this pill a year ago because I don't have to pay any more than $24 for it each month and it's a low dosage pill. Unfortunately, the side effects are most likely going to make me stop this pill after this pack is finished. Over the past year, I have been moodier than ever. Crying, angry, stressed - more than ever before. I have more migraines than I've had before. The worst side effect? I have NO sex drive whatsoever. I have to use a lubricant because my body can't lubricate itself anymore. I don't get excited to have sex. Ever. The only time I get remotely excited is during the withdrawal period. Not having sex sort of defeats the purpose of being on the pill. I think I am going to stick to condoms only, and get myself off this pill, so I can actually ENJOY having sex again. It just isn't worth it.  :)

2/10/10   5     4     5     5   I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for the past 3 years, and it has been a very positive experience. This is the only oral contraceptive I have taken. At the beginning, I did experience some mood alterations, but this went away relatively quickly. This pill has been highly effective and I don't experience any side effects, except for occasional breast tenderness. I think it is an excellent option for birth control because of the price and also because, to my knowledge, it contains the lowest hormone level when compared to other oral contraceptives.  :)

12/21/09   2     1     3     2   This is my 3rd month taking Loestrin 24 and it hasn't been that great. I got on the pill because I had bad cramps and I had a heavy flow. I am still getting cramps now that I am on the pill. Instead of a shorter period like it is supposed to give me I am getting 2 periods. One a week or so before the brown pills and one while im on the brown pills. I also have had mood swings a lot. Many people have pointed it out to me. I will often start crying for no reason and I was never like that before. The only thing good it has done is my flow is a bit lighter. It may work for some people but I dont think the pro's of this pill are worth all the cons that come with it.  :(

11/17/09   3     3     5     3   I am 18 years old and have just been recently prescribed this birth control by my OB-GYN due to an ovarian cyst. This will be my first birth control and I am hesitant. I don't really want to put the chemicals into my body but am afraid I must to prevent anymore cysts from forming. I also have severe menstrual cramps that keep me in bed all day rather than at class or work, which have been credited to the cysts. All the bad reviews on this drug are honestly scaring the crap out of me, but there seems to be a few good reviews that give me a little hope. The main reason why I have been prescribed this particular birth control is because it's discounted at $24/month, and I have no health insurance at this time. I am on the fence right now as to whether or not I should give this pill a try. Now that my cyst is ruptured, I am wondering what the chances of getting another are? I will make my decision once my cycle starts in about two weeks based on the severity of my cramps.  :)

11/16/09   5     1     3     5   Was extremely moody the first week. Had acne like I've never had before. Had breakthrough bleeding for 2 out of the NON-placebo weeks that was heavy like a period. Headaches increased. Depressed because my boyfriend hasn't come near me the entire time, either because I was so cranky, or because I was bleeding. I've been miserable.  :)

10/12/09   3     2     4     3   The verdict is still out on this one for me, I have completed 1 pack and just started the 2nd one last night, I have yet to have a period. My side effects are: headaches (but I do have seasonal alleries so hard to say the cause) low sex drive and very dry, mild cramping and breast tenderness, incredibly hungry during week 2 & 4 of last month. I have taken MANY birth controls in the past, but due to me being mid 30s, my Dr wanted me to be on a lower dose Estrogen pill, so we are trying this one. I like the no period part, but I will prob go buy a test this week if I still haven't started, just in case! The low sex drive bothers my husband...but maybe it will make him go get that "V" we talked about so I can stop these pills! Everyone reacts differently to hormones, so make your own choices and opinions; noone should say they don't recommend this to anyone b/c it works well for some and not so well for others. I hated Yasmin, Triphasil, and Orthotricyclen, a few that most women love.  :|

9/27/09   1     1     1     1   I was only on this pill for barely six months before I was diagnosed with multiple DVTs and Pulmonary Emboli. I was in previously great health before, and now I am on a long road of recovery. All b.c. pills cause a heightened chance of clotting, but even my physicians said it was outrageous that I had been on the pill such a short time and gotten so sick. Also, it completely killed my sex drive, and as far as my flow is was inconsistent. It's bad news, just avoid it.  :(

9/10/09   5     5     5     5   I've been on this birth control for over 2 years and I have been fully satisfied. I have not had any bad side affects. I actually feel it has been the reason for my skin clearing up. The only time I have felt naseous is when I double up on pills, which only happens when I forget to take my pill the previous day which is bad. Other than that I've felt completely normal. No mood swings or loss of sex drive. I also love that fact that I have NO periods! I never have to worry about getting it or going through the pain of cramps. Another good thing about this pill is that it has enhanced my breast size. Since I had small **** to begin with, it was a great plus for me! My weight has been the same and my eating habits have not been altered in any way. I highly recommend this birth control pill to all my girl friends and to you reading this. Take your pill everyday at the same time each day and you'll be fine.  :)

8/29/09   5     2     5     4   I am about to complete month 6 on Loestrin 24 Fe. For the first 5 months, all was fine, absolutely no side effects and practically no period! I thought I'd found my miracle contraceptive. But around month 5, I began to develop HUGE, PAINFUL, TUMOR-LIKE CYSTS on my chin and jawline. Daily, new cysts are forming. I can only attribute this hormonal breakout to the pill. I will visit my gyno this week to switch to another BC - preferably one FDA approved to treat acne. What a nightmare. My story is testimony that we must give our bodies a full 6 months to adjust to contraceptives. I pray my skin clears up... :(  :)

8/22/09   5     1     2     2   honestly this i ive only been on loestrin for a little over a month. i took the pill the start day of my period and i bled for at least 10 days straight. it was soo annoying. and then randomnly i bled for like 4 days. but it was light spotting but suppper annoying. now alot of my underwear is ruined! i dont' even know if i've had an actual period yet or if that was considered my period. im usually a size 5 in pants and now i can't even fit into ANY of my pants anymore. im too scared to go ton the scale. I fit into the pants before the birthcontrol and after i don't! ugh. so im guessing i gained about 7 pounds from it. i thought loestrin would help with acne but it hasn't. if anything it's made it a little bit worse. and also my sex drive is gone. maybe it's just me? or is it the birth control. i feel bad cause my boyfriend and i were excited when i started it but now i don't even want to have sex with him. im not sure if i should switch or not...  :|

8/3/09   5     4     5     4   I have officially hit the 3 month mark for this pill. Overall, I'd have to say it's doing just fine. (That could be because I'm only 20.) The very first day I started was the only day I felt sick to my stomach but I ate a peanut butter sandwich and felt fine again. It hasn't effected my sex drive, it hasn't made me gain (or loss) weight, and it hasn't changed my appetite. I have noticed it gives me anxiety attacks but I also moved in with my fiance the day after I started so that probably didn't help either. I was on Trinessa before this and it would give me yeast infections every month (yeah, fun times) but Loestrin 24 FE stopped that too. My periods are also only 2 1/2 days long and I haven't had any breakthrough bleeding whatsoever. So, in short, I love this pill. Don't be afraid it'll hurt you, because I thought that too. You never know until you try!  :)

7/27/09   5     5     4     4   I've been taking Loestrin 24 FE for two and a half months and so far I love it. I switched after having a horrible experience with Yaz (anxiety, panic attacks, crying spells, no sex drive). I feel "normal" again on Loestrin and my sex drive is great! I haven't had any weight gain, maybe some bloating from time to time. I did have mid-cycle breakthrough bleeding the first two months but I think it was just my body adjusting to the new pill. I haven't had a problem with it this month. My period last month was incredibly light and short. It looks like Loestrin 24 FE is the right pill for me, but every woman is different. If you're having trouble with your birth control pill, I'd encourage you to try something else until you find one that works for you.  :)

7/7/09   5     1     3     3   Effectiveness gets a 5 because I didn't get pregnant while I was on it. Side effects gets a 2 because, while I didn't gain weight, and my period was light and pretty short, this BC RUINED my sex life. My bf and I have been together 4.5 years, and have been having sex for most of that. It was AWFUL while I was on the pill, bc it dries you up like a desert. Estrogen is what tells your body to lubricate, so if you notice that sex is painful and you have zero sex drive, reconsider taking this BC which specifically keeps your estrogen low. Now that I've been of it for a few weeks, my sex drive is back, and sex is better than its ever been. You have been warned.  :|

6/26/09   3     1     2     1   After reading these posts, clearly this product has different side effects for each person based on their body chemistry. I have been on this pill for 2 weeks and I definitely have noticed a change in appetite and weight gain. Weight gain is not something I take lightly. I work hard at maintaining my figure and this pill is wreaking havoc causing me to want to eat more, I'm bloated, and I think my metabolism has slowed. In addition, my sex drive is lower than it was. I have not had spotting, break-through bleeding, headaches, or mood swings. The first few days, I was nauseous, but since then it's been mainly a problem of weight gain. I don't think I'll continue taking it because I don't like feeling famished everyday.  :(

Also as far as price go i onlt pay 25 dollars. I LOVE THIS PILL.... Oh yea the sex drive is lovely says my boyfriend ;)  :)

6/10/09   5     5     4     4   Just finished my first month and I'm really happy with this pill. I have tried SO many others -- Lybrel (break-through bleeding), YAZ (crAAzy mood swings), Ortho Tricyclen-Lo (depressions, irritability, complete loss of sex drive). I read horror stories about LoE 24 before starting but am so glad I went forward with it. Within a week my sex drive came back with enthusiasm (after a 6 month absence on OTL). I feel energetic, my depression symptoms are gone, and I'm enjoying exercise again (regular cyclist, runner, swimmer). I've been a little weepy (which may be the relief of finding a pill that works for me) but it's nothing compared to the violent mood swings I had on other pills. OTL and YAZ almost ruined my relationship. My boyfriend and I are VERY happy with LoE 24. Love the light periods, too. I recommend trying a lot of different things, the chemicals in our brains are very complicated. I'm just ecstatic to find something that works specifically for me, I hope it lasts!!  :)

6/8/09   5     5     5     4   I've been on this pill for over two years. I barely get a period now, which is great! Absolutely no nausea or migraines. I feel great. I've gained weight over the past year, but truly think it's my eating habits and just getting older. I went off the pill for about 6 months because I lost insurance and my weight did not fluctuate, so it's definitely my eating habits. The only downside is it costs $55 for me WITH insurance! I'm about to switch to BCBS, which hopefully will be better. I recommend Loestrin 24!!  :)

5/11/09   5     5     5     5   I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe for 6 months now. I switched from Yaz, which was an absolutely horrible experience. The first month I had some spotting with cramps, but after that, no spotting problems. The only side effects I've had are occasional headaches, and breast tenderness. It's not bad at all! It also hasn't affected my sex drive, which I was quite worried about. In fact, I think it's higher now that I am on LOE24. I think this is because LOE24 has a higher androgen level. Overall, I am very happy with this pill. It didn't cause psychotic mood swings, crying spells and cystic acne, like Yaz did.  :)

4/21/09   5     2     4     3   I have been on Loestrin24 for almost a year. I went on this because I suffered severe nausea when taking/using other forms of birth control. I had tried many different brands of pills, the patch, the ring, & the shot. Loestrin has been very effective but it does have horrible side effects. Although I do not suffer from nausea I have gained a considerable amount of weight, and I go through very bad mood swings on a daily basis. I also broke out really badly the first few months. I was on accutane a few yrs back so I never break out, so I knew it was due to the pill.  :)

4/13/09   5     1     3     1   I went on Loestrin 24 FE because my periods were out of control. Yes, Loestrin 24 FE has helped this. But the side effect are out of control...I have severe migraines (had to get a script for them), I gained 10lbs in 2 months and continue to gain, the acne on my face is downright embarrassing, and the scary one - my blood pressure is high, I now have to check it constantly. I never had any of these problems prior to this pill. I have three acquaintances that are experiencing similar side effects. One has already switched and one more is going back to the doctors this week. I will be making another appointment to get off this pill as soon as possible. Good luck to all.  :|

3/13/09   5     1     1     1   I started taking this a month ago and just called to get my perscription changed. Most of the time I would take at least two months to see if things would work out but it was just too much. I am a complete emotional roller coaster. I will cry over nothing. My boyfriend can't stand me because I yell at him for the littlest things. I have never had this big of an issue with any other birth control. The first day I started taking it I was sick to my stomach - a few days later I had spotting for three days straight. I would not recommend this pill to anyone...the only good it did me was kept me from having babies and only because I don't feel like having sex. I don't think my boyfriend even wanted to with the moods I've been in!  :(

3/12/09   5     1     2     1   I started on this pill because I was having my period all the time and we were switching pills to try to control them. I am happy to say I stopped having my periods all together after taking it (which is a great thing for me). But the side effects definitely out weigh any joy I had over finally controlling my periods. First was the nausea and headaches. Then the weight gain. I have been the same size for 15 years, I never gain or lose weight. Then the mood swings, omg the mood swings. I couldn't even stand to be around myself. I was irritated with everything, which left my two children asking what's wrong Mommy? all the time. I have been on lots of birth control pills in the past and have never experienced anything like this. It took me awhile to even realize it must be the new pills. I stopped taking them a few weeks ago and it has all went away. Back to my happy normal self and the weight is dropping off too. I definitely would not recommend this pill.  :(

3/1/09   3     2     5     2   I started taking Loestrin24Fe on Feb 6th. At first everything seemed normal, but my **** were noticiably tender last week and are still today. Also, I spotted yesterday. And today I am sad, crying kind of sad. But I have not real reason to be sad. I think it's the pill. I am supposed to take the Loestrin24Fe continuously so I don't have a period, but I have been having twinges/cramps today. I am blogging my experiences at: http://troublewithendo.blogspot.com VALUE: I rated it a 2 because even though I have received my first 3 pill packs for free (doctor samples) I found that this is $57.99/month at Costco (I don't have insurance) and that's RIDICULOUS. Drug companies are ripping us off and I wish I didn't have to rely on a BCP, but my pain is so out of control that I have to do something. Surgery may be the only other answer.  :|

2/19/09   4     3     4     5   Even though this pill is expensive, I am able to get all of my birth control medications for free, because I have Medicaid. Now, I did have this pill prescribed for me because my body unfortunately cannot handle any low or high dose estrogen pills. I can only handle the ultra-low dose kind. I must say that this pill has been working pretty okay for me. I have only had slight nausea, headaches, breast tenderness to deal with since I started taking it, but those type of effects are only supposed to last for the first 1-3 months. So, I am able to make due with these slight effects. As, I have certainly tried other pills in the past that gave me much worser effects than this. If the side effects were to get worse, then I would probably end up switching to Nuvaring. But, as long as things don't get any worse, then I do plan to continue using this pill. Oh, and this pill has not caused me to have any extreme depression, moodiness, or bad spotting episodes thus far at all.  :)

But now my face is clear but I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SEX DRIVE. thats the worst part... I will post an update in 2 months. Oh and does anyone know if the sex will come back?  :|

2/13/09   4     2     4     4   It kept me from getting pregnant, but otherwise, I would not recommend this pill. I've had breakthrough bleeding twice in the past 5 months. My periods have progressively gotten longer (up to a week), heavier, and more painful with cramps over the past 5 months. It doesn't keep me regular either. It's like I'm not on the pill at all, with regards to period-related things. Not worth the money.  :)

2/4/09   2     1     2     1   I'm 28 and this pill just about ruined my life. I was on LoE24 starting 12/07. Everything was fine for the first few months and then side effects started after 6 months. First I had regular breakthrough bleeding which was annyoing. I saw my reg Dr. for a cold and he diagnosed me with adult acne! I have ALWAYS had very clear skin. I was devastated and didn't realize the pill was causing the problem. I almost lost my sex drive, even masturbation lost it's fun. Then I had SEVERE mood swings, I was unbearable to be around at work. My boss actually had to take me aside and ask me if I was having "personal problems", he asked what happened to the "nice, funny girl he used to know". I would get mad in an instant. I'm a happy person with a great life, yet I was depressed for no reason. These side effects did not begin until I was already on this pill for over 6 months. I've since stopped LoE24 and I'm now on Yaz. I would NOT recommend LoE24 to anyone!  :(

Click to report rating    1/7/09   5     2     3     2   I've been on this pill for about 6 months and it was great at first. No cramps, very short periods, no nausea, etc. Basically everything was great except for going into the 5th month or so I started to notice mood swings and depression. My boyfriend gets the brunt of it and it could seriously hurt our relationship. I can't concentrate at work and I sleep like a bear hibernating in the winter. I'm also always tired. It's really putting a damper on my lifestyle=( I think I may need to switch.  :|

Click to report rating    1/6/09   4     1     5     2   This pill sucks! I started it for period issues I'm about to start the third pack. The first pack: Bleeding every day after week one, pain in random places, and no sex drive Pack 2: Depression, tender ****, mood swings, unable to sleep normally, VERY anxious , and lots of nausea. I'm really scared to start the 3rd pack, the whole experience has been TERRIBLE for me. It's also very expensive , my insurance does not cover it, and it is nearly $73. It's not worth it ladies, if you get the prescription SWITCH ASAP. I have to wait until March 2nd to get anything done (it's only January 6th) , and I'm hoping to switch to something that doesn't make me want to kill myself and lets me sleep!  :|

Click to report rating    12/28/08   4     5     5     5   So far so good. I do have break through bleeding which is the downside of Loestrin24fe, but I have to say.. my acne, sex drive, mood control and weight control have made my life so much easier. This is my 4th month taking it and my only concern is that I haven't had a period at all this month. I'm not pregnant... I took a test. Just freaked me out a bit! However, I certainly can get use to no period!  :)

My insurance covers all costs too which is awesome! So far, I am really satisfied!  :)

Click to report rating    12/21/08   5     1     1     2   I've been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for 4 months. I've had horrible mood swings (to where I could cry at the drop of a dime,) gained weight, and have had bi-weekly periods. I also had spotting inbetween those bi-weekly periods which makes it feel like I've had a period for constistantly for months!!! This pill is horrible! I would not recommend it to anyone. I've been reading many blogs about this pill and the bad reviews outway the good ones by a long shot! My doctor switched me to Yazmin, which I start at the end of this month. Hopefully that will work out better. For me though, this pill definitely didn't cut it!  :(

Click to report rating    12/19/08   5     1     1     2   Took this pill for 5 months and just got my doctor to change my perscription this morning. I've been getting my period/breakthough bleeding twice a month for the past 3 months...NO fun. Sex drive is great, but when you're constantly bleeding, a high sex drive is pretty frustrating! Also got headaches almost daily and pretty severe breast tenderness (not fun for someone who works out/goes running as much as me. No weight gain, no mood swings, and no nausea if I was late taking a pill - but the inconvenience of bi-weekly periods far outweighs any other positives. My doctor told me the weak amount of estrogen in this pill is to blame for all the bleeding. I have asked friends who were on this pill and all of them had the same issue.  :(

Click to report rating    12/18/08   5     5     5     3   Almost at the end of my thrid week on this one and my acne was definitely due to the Hydroxycut, it's all gone and my skin looks really good! Of course, I have been sticking closer to my cleansing regimen, which can't be hurting either. No bad side effects on this one AT ALL for me! And I feel like I'm slimming down a wee bit, mostly because I have a more suppressed appetite! Whether or not that's a side effect of the pill, I can't be sure, but nothing else is different for me now, so I think I can atrribute it. I pay $35/mo with insurance. Yaz was $30, but the extra $5 is worth is to me given all the +'s from LoE24, including my soaring sex drive, sex is better than ever... everytime is awesome now... I hope these effects don't ever go dull  :)

12/17/08   5     4     5     1   I have been taking loestrin for about 8 months. I'm in my 40's. I had acne beacuse of fluctuating hormones and it TOTALLY cleared up in 3 to 4 monhths and it has not come back. I was having spotting/breakthrough bleeding every month during the 3 rd week. Dr said the low dose pill did not have enough estrogen for me Then I started taking the pill w/ grapefruit juice. I read grapefruit allows your body to absorb more of the estrogen from the pill (only drank about 4 ounces per day and didn't take any during the 4th week and it worked GREAT. NO spotting or breakthrough bleeding, no side effects - and period started as scheduled during week 4. Some articles say grapefruit makes the pill less effective as birth control - but I'm just using it to balance out my hormones. It DEFINITELY stopped the spotting!  :)

At the beginning I had the worst headaches, I would be nautious all the time, dizzy spells, it was terrible I thought of switching to another brand. These side effects only lasted for the first pack. Now I am very happy with it, I havent gained any weight, and all the migranes and dizzyness is gone. Im glad I gave it a little more time, my body was just geting used to ii. At first I had the WORST side effects, I was constantly nauseous and exhausted. It did increase the frequency of my migraines but they're starting to let up again. I would recommend this pill to beginners. My BF loves it too.  :)

Click to report rating    12/8/08   1     1     1     1   This birth control is not very helpful. I am on my fourth month and my periods are still heavy and lasting over two weeks. Sex drive is excellent but I really can't do anything if I am on my period the whole time. The mood swings I get are pretty bad and sometimes feel like i am going to turn into the hulk! I'm a bit confused after reading other side effects people had though. It's said of most that there are certain side effects that can dissipate with time. Anyway, Loestrin 24 is the first (and only) pill I've ever used and I love it. No side-effects and I do not get a period. At all. Despite the fact that I have to pay $30 per-pack, it's really worth it.  :)

Click to report rating    11/23/08   5     4     5     1   I have been off of BC for 5 years. I decided to try this as I was having uterine bleeding of no known cause, severe acne, and heavy periods with clotting. I'm in my second week and the only side effect I have noticed is that I have a mild tummy cramping like when you have gas, which I think is from the pill, as I have it once a day even though my diet is the same. Also, I am ravenously hungry. I will eat a meal and can't stop eating. I'm positive this is the pill. I'm afraid of weight gain so I basically resorted to buying all fruit, veggies, and lean meat. The food craving has been hard. Overall though I would say I feel more 'normal' since this pill. My mood is stable, no nausea, headaches, or other symptoms like peopel have said. Just the hunger. I do worry about weight gain, but am aware and trying to manage these cravings. I would try it. I briefly tired Ortho tricyclen Lo five years ago and thought it was horrible. This is much better and each pill is different.  :)

Click to report rating    11/16/08   5     4     3     5   I have been on the pill for about 10 months and very pleased. It is much better than orthrotricyclen lo (which i was on before) and a lot better and more effective than condoms. having that peace of mind is great. Had breakthru bleeding my 1st month. It may make me a little anxious but might not, as I started law school this year, so that could be it:) The only thing that I don't like is that sometimes I bleed really light after sex/during sex (especially early on in the cycle) and I also lightly bleed into my first week-probably because my period never starts until the second placebo pill so it extends into my first week of pills. just a panty-liners worth though. overall it is doing the trick for now!  :)

Click to report rating    11/14/08   5     3     4     4   I've been on Loestrin 24 FE for 5 months. I had a few bothersome side effects and a few side effects that weren't so bothersome. In the second month I developed this weird anxiety. I could hardly enjoy a vacation because I had this constant sense of nervousness. I would also have very brief moments of dizziness. For example, if I turned my head too fast I'd feel a flash of dizzy. For nearly 4 months my **** felt sore, but I could deal with that. I spotted for the first month, but I could deal with that, too. I never had any nausea, weight gain, acne, hair loss, or skin discoloration. Now that I've gotten over the side effects I'm pretty pleased and wouldn't want to switch. Despite the pill being pricey with a $50 copay with Aetna, I wouldn't switch. Upside: I went from a heavy, 7 day period to barely having a period at all and no cramps!! No pill's perfect but this one works for me.  :)

Click to report rating    11/14/08   5     4     5     5   I've now been on Loestrin for 3 months; I really considered going off it at first, because my first month was filled with breakthrough bleeding. It's gotten better each month, and my doctor said that it's completely normal for the bleeding to happen while your body is still adjusting. I'm so glad I stayed on it because I absolutely love it. My periods went from being so ridiculously heavy I couldn't even make it through the night with one tampon, to being so light that it's barely there. I still get mild cramps during the brown pills, but it's nothing compared to the ones I got prior to going on the pill. I tried Orthotricyclon Low before this one and hated it because it made me nuts... I really don't think Loestrin has had any effect on my mood. The only downside to Loestrin is that it's pretty expensive... but I guess most of the pills that offer a very short and light period are comparable in price. Definitely worth the 30 a month I pay after insurance.  :)

Click to report rating    11/14/08   4     1     1     3   What kind of birth control has side effects that are identical to early signs of pregnancy? I vomited twice this week for no apparent reason--morning sickness or Loestrin 24 side effect? Could be either. I started looking up early signs of pregnancy and learned that many women bleed in their first trimester--was that why I had a random extra period in the middle of the month that lasted five or six days, or was that bleeding just part of the "mid-month spotting" they warn you about in the list of Loestrin 24 side effects? I went to a doctor and it turns out I'm not pregnant (so I guess Loestrin 24 did SOMEthing right), but I really couldn't have known that without seeing a doctor. This birth control is not worth the anxiety. I'm going back to Orthotri-cyclen; the PMS was bad but at least I didn't have to worry.  :(

Click to report rating    11/11/08   5     1     3     3   I've been on this pill for about 8 months. I will say that it does do its job at providing me a shorter, lighter period and so far it has kept me from being pregnant. However, I am going to see my gyno Wed because I have absolutely no sex drive. What good is a bc pill if I don't want to have sex? After reading so many people's comments I realized that my problem can very well be caused by this pill. However, do not let all these comments mislead you into not wanting to take this pill because as you can read everyone is different. It works for some and not for others. Some have no side effects, some have increased sex drive while unfortunately for others like me, they have decreased sex drive. Hopefully my doctor will help me figure out what to do to get mine back. I'm only 20 years old! :(  :|

Click to report rating    10/29/08   5     5     5     3   after 3 years of hell on YAZ I switched to loestrin 24 fe and I couldnt be more happy. I didnt realize exactly how bad it was on my last pill (though I knew it wasnt right) until I started this pill. No more mood swings & my sex drive returned immediately. I suffered from leg cramps, lack of sex drive, (strange)headaches and horrible cramps during my unpredictable periods - as much as I try to take ownership for my health, I underestimated the effects of YAZ until starting my new pill. I do still believe that we all adapt/react to each pill very differently so try a new one if your not happy but don't let it take you any longer than 3 months to decide if youre happy - youre body will adjust & you will know...I wont get better if you don't like the results at that point.  :)

Went on Ortho-Tricyclin and it was HORRIBLE! Totally messed me up for the year I took it. I've been on Loestrin 24 for 3 months and L-O-V-E it. My mood swings are gone, my cramps are gone, my sex drive is back. My husband is so happy that I'm myself again. The price sucks. I have insurance and I still have to pay 30 bucks but its a small price to pay for peace of mind.  :)

Click to report rating    10/27/08   5     5     5     5   The only possible bad thing about this OC is that it may be expensive if you do not have insurance ($65 ish), but if you have insurance it is not expensive at all. I get mine for free with my insurance because it is a maintenance drug, but on average it shouldn't cost more than $10. Having insurance is the key for Loestrin! I am very happy with my results thus far.  :)

Click to report rating    10/27/08   5     5     3     5   I am on my second month of Loestrin 24. I have tried a few others in the past, the only one I was unhappy with was Nuvaring (YUCK! - heavy discharge and I just saw a commerical about how it can be harmful..) Anyways.. I can say I am very happy so far with Loestrin 24. I haven't had any side effects. My period was a little off the first month, but that can be normal. I do exercise a little bit, but i have been loosing a few pounds which is good. The price is crazy though! I am lucky that my neighbor gets me them for free (she works in an office) but with insurance its like 75$ a pack. But over all.. so far so good! :)  :)

Click to report rating    10/26/08   3     1     3     2   This is my first OC i have ever used. I am not really sure what the sideeffects are suppose to be but, I am having severe mood swings and terrible stomach cramping. It seems to be that anything you tell me I could cry over. I have random stomach pains that are worse than cramps. I will say that my period is VERY light almost nothing and cramps are eliminated. I also could pick a fight over something totally useless and get so angry and then cry and be depressed. I am not sure if I am going to stick it out for three months I am not enjoying having to wear waterproof make-up because I cry three to four times a day. My boyfriend seems to think I am insane. It seems to be a lot of ppl like this OC but I am not to happy with some of the side effects.  :(

Click to report rating    10/23/08   5     5     5     5   I've been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for 4 months now, and all has been well. Before I started taking it I was a little reluctant because I had heard some horror stories about it, but I am very glad I chose to continue! The first month I did have very light spotting that lasted for 16 days, but that is normal during the first 3 months. I haven't had any break-through bleeding since. My periods only last for 1-2 days (VERY light) on the brown pills. I guess I have just gotten really lucky. I haven't had any weight gain and I feel COMPLETELY normal. The only thing that changed about me was my boob size (B to a C!!) =), but other than that nothing has changed from before I began taking it! I LOVE IT!  :)

Click to report rating    10/21/08   5     5     5     5   I have been taking Loestrin for this makes my second month. After I gave birth to my son in 12/07, I began taking Yaz. Then I was switched to Loestrin due to really, really debilitating headaches. I really like the Loestrin. I am losing weight, which is great. I am a little moody, but no more than normal. The only thing is that I have not had a period since I began taking Loestrin and am wondering whether or not this is okay. If it is okay that I am not having a period, then great. I really got spoiled during pregnancy with not having to worry about being on my perid. I have not had to pay for this yet because I tried samples, but with insurance I am sure that it is no more expensive than Yaz. Sex drive is an issue for me, but I do not think it has anything to do with the pills. I think I am just too zapped to worry about it.  :)

Click to report rating    10/20/08   5     3     5     3   I just started taking this pill, today is day 6. I am in my late 30's and my doctor recommended that I take this pill because I have severe cramping on the first two days of my period . I would want to just curl up in a ball and cry from all the pain. I started the pack on the first day of my period and my period lasted my normal 5 days. I am taking the pill after dinner around 8:30pm. The first few days ( in the morming) I felt a bit nauseous, not bad though. I definitely have a loss of appetite. I do not eat as much as I normally would. This is not a bad thing. So far I like the pill but only time can tell. They are not cheap, I do not have prescription coverage so I am paying approx 57.00 per pack.If this pill rids me of my pain it will be worth every dime. I will update next month.  :)

Click to report rating    10/16/08   5     4     4     1   I read horrible things about Loestrin 24 Fe. I was really scared of taking it but I tried anyways. I used to take Yasmin and that was a nightmare. Loestrin 24 Fe is really great for me. I haven't gained any weight, I'm not an emotional wreck, I don't have zits or anything else. The only thing is that I sometimes get a minor headache that goes away with some advil. $64 is a lot to pay a month though w/ no insurance.  :)

Click to report rating    10/12/08   5     3     5     1   So far I am so-so with this pill. I'm on my second month now. I was on Tri-Sprintec (generic Ortho-Tricyclen) for maybe 7 years but would cry for a week straight every month. Now, the crying is gone, but instead I find myself getting angrier faster... and I'm not a very angry person. I had very bad cramps the first month, the worst in years, but I never did get a period. I don't know what the second month will bring, but so far, I've been pretty moody, so hopefully that gets better.  :)

Click to report rating    10/11/08   5     5     3     3   Loestrin24Fe has been great for me because I suffer no side effects (even premenstral cramping is minimal to none) and I rarely get a period. Before Loestrin, I had regular to heavy periods and spotting in between. I also suffered cyclical depression. All that is gone now.  :)

Click to report rating    10/10/08   5     5     5     5   First off, before i started taking Loestrin 24Fe. My periods lasted for 3-4 days and cramps were really bad. They were bad enough to stop me from going to work, all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball. I am finishing my third month on Loestrin 24 Fe. The second month my period lasted about 2 days and cramps were very light, just had spot bleeding. Now I am down to the last two brown pills and no bleeding or cramps. The only side effect that I have is the tenderness of the ****. The cost of the pills are not that bad since I have insurance, so I only pay like 5 dollars for a months worth.  :)

Click to report rating    10/9/08   3     1     1     1   I have PCOS and was put on this pill 2/08 by my doctor, he thought it would be a good dose of hormones for me. It is now 10/08 & after giving it some time to get my body "adjusted" I am definitely switching. I do have a period every month now but it lasts through the active pills, and every second week of the active pills like clockwork I have a week of breakthrough bleeding...it's really annoying. I could cry at the drop of a hat and my mood has severely changed while on this pill. Maybe this is the pill for some people but definitely not for me.  :(

Click to report rating    10/6/08   4     4     3     3   I've been on Loestrin since July (since I had a medical abortion)... the first month there was a lot of bleeding, but who can tell if that was from the abortion or the starting of the pill... otherwise have had no real side effects from it at all... besides the mood swings when I'm nearing my period.. period is SUPER light compared to what it was (prior to pill - 5-6 days heavy bleeding) - now it's more like 1-2 days very LIGHT bleeding, how wonderful! :) Most importantly I do think it affects your sex drive though.. and that bothers me.. but overall, not bad enough to quit taking. ?  :)

I cant say anything about the effectiveness because Ive used backup contraceptive but im happy with it.I dont think I gained weight. I havent really been hungry but once I start eating its hard to fill full, I dont know if that has anything to do with the pill but as long as you have disipline you should be fine. I was afraid to take this. The reviews made me want to send it back but so far I love it!! The only difference to my body I see is my face clearing so thats exciting. I just find it inconvient to have to take a pill at the same time.  :)

Click to report rating    10/3/08   5     4     5     4   I had bad periods for a long time. I have been taking this 4 months now. I love it. I don't see too many positive reviews for this anywhere online. It is a little pricey compared to generics but this doesnt have one. There is a Loestrin similiar but you only get 21 therapy pills and 7 placebo(which means longer period)instead of the 24 then you get the 4 iron pills. I did have a side effect of headaches for a month. That did drive me crazy but I stuck with it anyway and now no side effects (knock on wood) so I would recommend this. I see some people pay alot more I pay about 20 per pack. Without insurance I sure wouldnt be able to afford it though. But its great short periods, no stomach aches, light cramping normally but that is normal for me. I would like to hear more positive reviews if they are out there! Good luck with it!  :)

Not only did I have severe migraines, but the weight gain, nausea, severe mood swings, no energy and NO SEX DRIVE were killing my marriage. I wouldn't recommend any form of loestrin. I cry over everything now I think my boyfriend has about had it with me cuz everything that I have even the slightest bit of trouble with for ex a website not working I am instantly in tears and I hate it. It does comfort me that some other people have had symtoms like this but any this bad? Click to report rating    9/18/08   1     1     2     1   This was the first OC I had ever taken. I was bery skeptical about it since some of my other friends had been on it and hated it but my doctor told me to give it a try anyways. The first week went smoothly, then all of the sudden mid way into the 2nd week of pills I started bleeding. I thought it would go away so I gave it a chance. Well I got to the end of the pack and I had had my period for almost 3 weeks straight and when I got to the placebo pills, my bleeding got even heavier (heavier than I have ever seen before in my life). Called my doctor and demanded to be switched, so she told me to throw out the rest and start on a new OC. Don't waste your money on this one- its totally worthless!!  :(

My **** have increased a cup size, acne is gone. My long, clotting periods were the reason for me to get on this pill. I threw up with my period, and wanted to die. It is worth the $50 I pay for it every month. No problems or side effects... the breakthrough bleeding is normal withink the first couple of months... but remember each pill is different with each persons body chemistry!  :)

Click to report rating    9/17/08   1     1     1     1   I started taking this pill 10 days ago and it wasn't til lastnight that I realized the pill was what was making me so sick.. Sometimes I have anxiety, so when I my heart was racing, my body was numb and tingly, and I couldn't sleep I had mistaken it for anxiety. Ever since the night I started taking Loestrin 24 fe I would have a headache and weak feeling during the day.. At night about an hour after I took the pill I would feel incredibly weark as if I had to sit still, I had incredibly bad chest pains to the point I felt i needed to go to the hospital, I had cramps as if I was on my period, very intense stomach pains, it felt hard to breathe, I felt like I had a fever but when i was take my temperature I was fine, and I had a random warm or freezing cold sensation over my body. I would be afraid to fall asleep because i felt so ill. This pill is horrible and I don't understand why they have it on the market if it's effecting woman so badly!!  :(

Click to report rating    9/16/08   5     1     3     1   ANXIETY ATTACKS!!! My last anxiety attacks were about 5 yrs ago in college. I did'nt even remeber what they were like until 4 days on the pill. I guess its one of the rare side effects of this pill, but is definitely not worth it. I could'nt figure out why my chest had been hurting on and off for about 3 days. Also my mood swings were horrible, I almost tore down the door as I picked an arguement with my husband; and I have lost so much patience that I use to have for my toddler. Also, I can't sleep and my legs feel restless. Most of the side effects I figured would go away, but the anxiety attacks are just not worth it.  :|

Click to report rating    9/11/08   3     3     3     3   I just started to take this pill yesterday and yea I can tell a little sickness and cramps, but not enough to ruined the day. I know I have to give my body time to adjust and I just keep saying 3day periods are Worth it! I have been very irregular all my life and I can't wait for change. I have tubal isues so I can't get preganat anyway until I have surgey so whats the point of having almost 2 WEEK LONG periods!!! Yes- I said 2 weeks... sometimes longer. The shortest my period has ever been was 5-7 days w/o BCP. I'm excited to "predict" my flows so I can plan my life better. Never had much of a sex drive anyway- I was just rolling over because it's only fair to my husband so there won't be much change there. I really hoep I can lose a few lbs off this pill as well, so if it takes a little throwign up every now in then i'm ALL for it!!! The only thing I hate is that this pill Costs SO much... I wish I can find it cheaper than my 45 co-pay or the 70.00 it is w/o insurance. Wish me luck!  :|

Click to report rating    9/8/08   3     1     3     1   I've only been taking Loestrin 24 for a month. The reason my GYNO chose this particular pill for me is to shorten my periods. My period has lasted 11 days now. Not only that, by the moodiness that comes along with this is drastic. I feel unmotivated a lot of the time. I have ZERO sex drive. I almost feel depressed, but I'm not sure if I am or not. I will assure everyone that people will describe me as laid back, care free, happy, etc. Lately, I'm not so sure about any of those. So what I'm trying to say is that I wouldn't recommend this brand of the birth control pill to anyone. =)  :(

Click to report rating    9/3/08   5     5     5     3   Don't let all of the negative reviews scare you from this pill. Everyone is different, and not every pill works for everyone, but this one has been great for me. I was on Ortho TriCyclin/Tri Sprintec (generic) for about 2 years, and I posted a review of both of those pills on here about 4 months ago because I was on the verge of a global meltdown. I can't believe I stayed on the Ortho for so long...it was horrible, horrible. I had severe mood swings, anger issues, extreme bloating 24/7. I decided to talk to my Dr., and she put me on Loestrin 24/FE (mono-phasal) instead of Ortho (tri-phasal), and I am SO HAPPY!!!! I feel like my old self again, and my boyfriend doesn't think I'm psycho anymore. The first 2 months, my periods were irregular, but just like my Dr. told me in advance, if you wait it out until the 3rd month, it'll regulate. I didn't get a period at all in the 3rd month, and that's great by me. If tri-phasals don't work for you, I recommend this pill!  :)

Click to report rating    8/27/08   5     5     5     5   I went on the pill because I had struggled with acne for years. I tried everything! Proactiv, antibiotics, topical gels, and I even went to some kind of natural doctor who put me on a strict diet with no breads or foods with sugar, so i basically ate only meat and veggies for a month. Anyways, this pill has been a miracle. I've been on it for about 6 months and my acne is completely gone!! I also had horrible periods. They were 7-10 days, heavy and a lot of clotting. Now, they're much lighter and only 3-4 days. I noticed that if I don't take the pill at the same time everyday I sometimes experience breakthrough bleeding. I called in once and the nurse said my body is just very sensetive to the hormones. I've also lost a little weight since I've been on it! No gain for me. But I would recommend this pill to anyone, it has worked so well for me!!!  :)

Click to report rating    8/19/08   4     1     3     1   I've been on birth control pills for about 12 years. At my last exam, my Dr., a new Dr. for me, insisted I try Loestrin Fe. I tried it for 4 months, I absolutely hated it! Having been on other pills and having little or no side effects this pill was awful. I was agitated and hungry and gained 8 lbs even though I work out all the time. I am so angry at the Dr for making me go on these BC pills. Also, even with insurance, they cost considerably more. I've since gone back to my old BC pills. I've checked other sites, the results are similar to mine - no sex drive and huge weight gain. Too many other options to be on this awful pill.  :(

8/17/08   5     5     5     2   Do NOT let the negative reviews scare you! I have been using this pill for 7 months and for me it's been excellent! I'm in my 40's and needed a BC pill to balance out my hormones. BEFORE starting the pill, I had terrible acne, PMS headaches, and moodiness. Within 4 months my acne completely cleared up! Much LESS problems w/ headaches and I think these pills actually improved my mood! No loss of sexual desire either, but I was on Alesse years ago and had no desire at all on that pill, so every pill is different. My only problem is break-trhough bleeding in the last half of the pack, so my Dr is giving me a little extra estrogen a couple days a month for 2 months to see if that corrects the problem. Give this pill at least 4 months before changing. I saw no improvement in my acne until the 4 month, but my face has been totally clear ever since! It's expensive - but that's my only complaint.  :)

I want my sex drive back and to feel like a sexy women who cares about herself and her image again! This pill, I feel has taken that away from me. I go to the doctor in two weeks to see what else they can do. Maybe I'll just bare the pain and not take anything anymore just to feel normal again. Over all, this pill is doing more damage to me than good but then again, no periods or pain.  :|

Click to report rating    8/10/08   5     1     1     3   I have been on this pill for a year now. I have had the WORST experience with it. I started taking it when I went away to school so the side effects I just thought were from stress and everything changing around me. But the first month I bleed the whole entire time. and never got my period when I was supposed to. I have been nauseous, had the worst anxiety to the point where i thought i was going crazy! I would cry about anything. ANd i lost over 15 pounds.  :|

Click to report rating    8/10/08   5     3     5     2   pros: YES!!! No babies which is the whole point of me taking it and second i had very short periods like 2-4 days. My face is clear and only a slight breakout a few days before my period comes. CONS: increased appetite, 20lbs of weight gain including in my increase in cup size but the worst side effect of is NO SEX DRIVE AT ALL! In fact i have discomfort during and after sex. then whats the point of taking the pill if ther is no SEX or GOOD SEX?? my poor BF is bearing w/me. Im trying Lutera next..any comments or suggestions?  :)

Click to report rating    8/10/08   5     5     5     2   I have been on this pill for 2 years and have had no side effects. I've tried others--ortho tri cyclin lo/yazmin-- and had been an emotional mess! Loestrin 24 is amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone. The only downside is the cost. It typically cost me around $45-50 a month, and there is not a generic available at this time. But it is definitely worth the cost to not have any side effects!! My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer, so I am going off of the pill as a precaution, but I still highly recommend this pill!  :)

Click to report rating    8/6/08   5     3     4     4   I've been on this for a little over a year now, and I didn't have any major side effects in the beginning. I had the general soreness, loss of sex drive, and whatnot, but if you stick with it for a few months so your body adjusts to it, then it goes away and it really does work! It's so convenient to know when your period is coming and to know it will be short. However, after being on it a year, I have started break through bleeding, and am not sure why. I'm thinking it's because it's such a low dose that my body has overily adjusted to it, since it is such a small does. But to those of you giving up on it after a pack or two, those effects really do go away, and it is amazing! I still love it and am willing to stick it out with it to see if my effects now go away on their own (after I talk to my doctor) because it has been so great to me so far.  :)

Click to report rating    8/6/08   5     2     4     4   This is my first time using birth control. I have been taking this pill for only 2 weeks but this week I have started "spotting". It's not just light spotting though, it's like in between spots and a period. My **** have been sore and some nights I feel nauseous. I have not noticed a decline in my sex drive, if anything I've done it more since I started taking it (don't worry, i know it's not effective until after the first month..i'm using protection). The only issue is that I'm a runner and it is VERY painful for me these past few days trying to run because with every step it hurtssss. I have noticed an increase in my acne as well. So far, I have mixed feelings on this pill. If I start to gain weight though, I'm definitely going to call my gyno and ask to be switched to Yaz or anything else. I used to be anorexic and I do not want to gain any weight and risk falling back into it.  :)

Click to report rating    8/4/08   1     1     3     1   I was taking this pill for 2 weeks and I wouldn't recommend it. I woke up one morning with terrible vision problems in my left eye. I immediately consulted my eye doctor and stopped using Loestrin. He took photos of my retinas and found that I had a blood clot and hemorrhaging in my left retina. I now have to see a specialist, and hopefully he can restore my vision. I'm 22 years old and have never had any issues with clotting so the doctors are almost positive it is a side effect of the loestrin.  :(

Click to report rating    8/2/08   5     4     4     5   I have been taking this pill since August 2006 and have not had any major issues. Before I had very heavy periods accompanied by severe cramping, major mood swings and nausea. When I first began Loestrin 24 Fe, there was no break through bleeding or spotting. Periods are very light and the cramping is alleviated almost completely. My sex drive was lowered for a while but it really varied. I might just contribute that to dry spells. I do feel slightly nauseated in the morning (but that might be my coffee too...). However, Loestrin made my periods bearable and I can actually function. I had tried Orthocyclen before and suffered from major depression, intense nausea and constant bleeding. Unfortunately, with many medications and drugs, it takes several trials with different brands to find something that works for you. I am super happy and pleased with this pill.  :)

Click to report rating    7/28/08   4     2     3     2   Let's start with the good. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. This pill gives me two weeks pain free. The week before my period it's like I'm not on the pill at all, and I'm in severe pain. I take this pill at 4 pm everyday, and I do feel slightly nauseous, but it goes away in about 20 minutes. The week of my period I always have a five day period that starts by the second brown pill. I've been on this pill for three months. The first month I had slight cramping, but that soon went away. Now I'm experiencing negative side effects like headaches, shortness of breath, and a HUGE loss in sex drive. This literally solved my sexual addiction as I can no longer naturally lubricate, and even using lube sex is painful. The good news is I've actually lost 20 pounds on this pill. The down side is it costs $50 with insurance. Thankfully my doctor gave me 4 months of samples.  :|

Click to report rating    7/24/08   1     1     1     1   At first I took the Deprovera Birth Control Shot and for Five months 24/7 I was on my period with mood swings and weight gain. Then my doctor put me on the Loestrin 24 Pill. Since I have been on this pill for three months I again have been on my period for the whole time. I dont think that the pill is doing its job of only having a three day period.  :(

Click to report rating    7/24/08   5     3     5     4   I have been taking this pill for about 7 months now and have to admit that it took my body the 3 months that other people have suggested to adjust to the hormones in this drug. At first, I had terrible mood swings (anxiety, irritability, extremely emotional at times) and experienced nausea to the point where I had a couple of pregnancy scares but once the 3 month period passed the side effects disappeared. I now enjoy a day (and sometimes no) LIGHT periods (before, my periods lasted no less than 5 days and they were extremely heavy) and no side effects except for a little bit of acne. I did gain about 15 lbs. after having been on this pill but that's not something that better eating habits and visits to the gym can't fix. All in all, would totally recommend this pill to people with the added warning to allow 3 months for your body to adjust to the hormones. The only downside is the price (I pay about $55 per pack).  :)

Click to report rating    7/23/08   3     1     1     5   I've been taking this pill for 6 weeks and have been bleeding for 4 of those weeks. The breakthrough bleeding associated with this pill is horrible! I can't stand it. Also, my appetite has been huge with this pill. I've been hungry nonstop for the past three weeks! I can't wait to stop taking this!  :|

Click to report rating    7/18/08   5     4     5     2   I started taking Loestrin 24 FE about 6 months ago. I was very nervous to start using birth control due to all of the possible side effects. I am prone to headaches and they may have gotten a little bit worse than before but not a significant difference. I got a little naseaus during the 2nd pack but as they say, after 3 months of using it that small side effect went away. My **** did get larger. I get my period on the 2nd to last brown pill of the pack..down to the hour! It's great for regulating your period. Mine was always irregular but now it's ALWAYS regular and only lasts 2 days if that. No break through bleeding. Cramps very minimal (used to be unbearable) but bloating still occurs. I still use a condom along with the birth control just to be safe. Pill is pretty expensive for me ($60/month) but it is worth it. No reason to not take this pill! Hang in there for at least 3 packs before switching to a new pill because you will notice the side effects go away.  :)

Click to report rating    7/18/08   2     2     2     2   So I had a problem with breakthough bleeding last month due to skipping a few pills. Now I've been conscientiously taking this pill at the same time every day. The past weekend my scheduled period started, it lasted three days and the breakthough bleeding has stopped. I'm glad to be back to normal, but I'm still contemplating discountinuing this pill, I mean what if I happen to leave the pack behind while away? I'll become very worried about bleeding for a month afterwards.  :(

Click to report rating    7/17/08   1     1     5     5   i'm taking 2nd package of Loestrin. I noticed: no sex drive, mood swing more than usually(also extensive worriness), small weight gain w/ bigger appetite, my brest is just huge to compare to what i had before, nausea which drives me crazy(i think im pregnant)and now in a middle of package it looks like i got period but i dont think it is, cuz i'm bleeding already over a week, so it's just "spotting" and im constantly tired is it from work or this pill???.... so i think i will keep taking it for up to 2 months (the most) if it wont go away i stop taking them. I give my body so more time....but what will happen with my relationship?? i cant just put it on hold. S  :|

Click to report rating    7/16/08   5     5     5     5   Is everyone rating the pill that has the 3 day period? I took LoEstrin 24 with the 3 day period and it is WONDERFUL. I also have taken the LoEstrin 1/20 which is a 7 day period and felt absolutely HORRIBLE. It comes in a generic so I thought I would switch from the 24 to the 1/20 and save some money. Totally not worth it, I am for sure going back to the 24 because it is the best BC I have ever taken.  :)

Click to report rating    7/15/08   5     5     4     5   Like a few other people, I've noticed that it's much easier for people to complain about this pill than it is to praise it, so I'm here to do the latter. I've been on this pill for around 5 months, and can say that overall, this is quite a good find! Yes, it's possible to have breakthrough bleeding or other side-effects, but they only happen IF YOU SKIP DAYS OR DON'T TAKE THE PILL AT AROUND THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY. It's painfully obvious that's where all the complaints are coming from! And while this pill takes a month or two to completely adjust to, it's entirely worth it. The 3-day periods are amazing; the flow is light, comfortable, and worry-free - and hell, my breast size and my sex drive have increased incredibly! So try this pill out if you're willing to be responsible with taking it! It's well-worth the money!  :)

7/10/08   3     1     3     2   I previously wrote that I've been bleeding/spotting since June 14. I'm now taking the non active pills. Well, last night I stopped bleeding, no cramps, no moodiness and since it was my boyfriend's birthday we... you know. And guess what! The bleeding started as soon as we finished. Now I have cramps and a heavy flow. I'm considering not resuming taking these pills, they're expensive ($56.00) a month and the bad comments. I'm just worried that if I don't take the Sunday pill the bleeding will continue. Also, my boyfriend has asked me why haven't I gone to the doctor. I told him, all the doctor is going to do is tell me is to keep taking the pill and wait. I'm uninsured and not spending $80.00 on an office visit to hear what I've told before when this happenend to me six years ago when I was diagnosed with fibroids. Most doctors will tell us to keep taking the pills or they will switch pills. Non will tell you to stop taking hormones, it doesn't add to their bottom line.  :(

Click to report rating    7/9/08   5     1     5     2   I am off this pill because of the horrible side effects. My doctor gave me free samples to try for the last four months because my other pill of two years was getting expensive. I have abnormal cramping and pain when its not a period and when it is, also abnormal fatigue and breast tenderness, and the periods are sometimes late. I wish I would have read this comment board before I messed with free samples. It's not worth it to feel like crap!  :|

Click to report rating    7/6/08   5     1     5     2   Ok..so its effective, and it's convenient, but I have never felt worse in my life. I'm 20..have been on it for 10 months and I am about to STOP. The first 8 or 9 months were ok. Short, light periods, no cramps. After the 8th month things changed. One day I was very sick and I haven't felt "right" sense. I feel sick frequently, NO SEX DRIVE, mood changes. You know that feeling you get when you come back from a trip? Everything is different and strange for a few days? Well, I have that daily. I HATE it. I'm stopping..especially after reading all of your comments. There is no need for someone to feel like this. Good luck to all of you who are on this pill. It may work for you..but not me.  :|

7/3/08   3     1     3     2   I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe in January 2008. For the first few months I was very happy; having three day periods. Well, last month I was very asbentminded and was well off taking the daily pill. I would take Wednesday's pill on a Saturday or double up, one in the morning on in the evening. Then this month my scheduled period started and it hasn't stopped yet. It's been varying between a blood red flow to dark brown spotting; usually starting up heavy again in the morning. What a bummer. I've come to the conclusion that the missed pills have screwed up my hormones and now I'm paying for it. Six years ago I was diagnosed with uterine fibrods tumors, bleed for a month and haven't had a problem until this month. I hope the bleeding stops after my next scheduled period. This bleeding has put a wrench in my 4th of July romantic plans. Has anyone else experienced this due to missed pills.  :(

Click to report rating    7/3/08   3     1     3     3   I was on this drug for years, 2 or 3, cant remember which, anyway, it was never a great pill to be on. The whole time I was taking it I had headaches, was tired, had horrible muscle aches, no sex drive at all and when I did have sex it was the most painful experience ever. Then when I got my period with the pill, I had horrible cramps the first day and it was just as heavy as it was before taking the pill. The only difference was it was shorter. It wasn't always like this with the period though, only the last couple of months. Also it caused me to gain about 25 or 30 pounds which would not come off no matter how much I have exercised. I recently switched to Yaz and though I have only been on it for about a week, I have immediately noticed a difference. I am losing about 2 pounds a day of the Loestrin weight and my sex drive is back and it is no longer painful. Everybody reacts differently to the pills but I would not recommend Loestrin 24 fe.  :|

Click to report rating    6/28/08   5     5     5     5   Loestrin 24 is a great and a top of the line therapy. I read that a lot of you have problems with amenorrhea (not having your period), but I can assure you that is how effective it is. Having those extra days of therapy, that prevents the endometrial lining from building up (what happens when you're "off" the pill for the usual 7 days). When there is little to no endometrial lining, this is going to reduce your bleeding...even to "no" period. It's safe, and actually increases the efficacy. If you take this pill when you should (no skipping days ladies!), you will be fine. And who doesn't want a short period!?!?  :)

Click to report rating    6/18/08   5     3     5     5   I've been on this pill for 3 months now, and I have had great results! I was using YAZ, and switched because it was causing me to have crazy crying spells, sensitivity to smells, zero sex drive, and I was nauseous all of the time! With Loestrin, I have not noticed a bit of difference in my moods. I don't have cramps (but I've never had bad cramps). My sex drive is COMPLETELY normal! It is really good! The two complaints I have is that 1) my periods are VERY VERY VERY light. I've questioned each month if I'm pregnant or not. And 2) My face keeps breaking out. I've NEVER had bad skin, and it seems that I cannot get rid of a few pimples on my face. Overall it's great!  :)

When I first started this pill my period was 3 days and very light, now it is 5 days and increasingly heavier. I also have more frequent breakthrough bleeding than before. At first I had basically no side effects. Now, I have severe headaches most days, absolutely NO SEX DRIVE and find it impossible to lose weight. The weight gain didn't come entirely from the pill but I am 99 percent positive the pill is the reason why I can lose the weight. Also, I am tired all the time and achy and occasionally dizzy. This pill has also made me very grumpy. I talked to my doctor and he is switching me to Yaz. I hope it is better.  :|

I was in bed with headaches and nausea for the first couple of months. That went away and I thought everything was fine. My periods are very short and very light, which at times is scary but can be nice. The worst part is the sexual side effects. I have little to no sex drive and I am 24 and in a GREAT relationship! It also costs me $60 a month. I think that meds effect everyone in a different way, but I know that I will be making a call to my doctor ASAP.  :|

Click to report rating    6/5/08   4     1     3     3   Well this is my first post to a public forum ever. I just thought I would share that with all of you. I have been on birth control for one year now. The first one I started with was Ortho Tricyclen Lo, and I would get bad headaches coupled with weight gain. With my doctor's recommendation, I switched to Loestrin 24Fe. I am somewhat of a high strung person. But I have never experienced anxiety like I have on this pill. In addition, I have also had headaches and again weight gain. Starting Sunday, I am switching to Yaz. I have heard good things about it. What do you guys think? Any recommendations for good birth control with minimal side effects? Thanks.  :|

Click to report rating    6/5/08   4     1     3     2   I was on this pill for about 8 months and it worked fine, but the side effects are AWFUL!!! First off, I had absolutely NO sex drive and it seemed like I was angry all the time! I also experienced axiety about EVERYTHING and I do mean everything! I turned into an excessive worrier! I'm wondering if anyone else noticed this particular side effect. At first I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, but then I thought it might be the pill. I've been off it for 2 months now and the change is remarkable. Mood swings -- GONE!! Sex drive -- BACK! and excessive worrying -- DEFINATELY GONE! This pill seemed to cause some pretty drastic emotional and psychological problems...atleast for me. (the periods were GREAT while I was on it though...most lasted only 2 days with very very light bleeding. Sometimes I'd even skip a month, but that led to some pregnancy scares...)  :|

I am going to get off of it. It hasn't helped my PMS either. I am in the second wk of the pack and feel like I am in full blown PMS. My back aches and I have really bad cramps. What is going on! My face looks amazing now!! I still get a few pimples before I start my period, but nothing compared to before! Also, my periods used to last 7-10 days and were very heavy. Now they're so light and only last about 3-4 days! I've lost weight since I've been on it. I think it's because I don't eat constantly while on my period. I did have breakthrough bleeding the first few months, but it was totally worth it. I'm so happy with this pill!!  :)

Click to report rating    5/29/08   5     4     5     3   Here is my story: I was on this pill for about a year and a half. I loved every second of it until the end. i had no side effects (no weight gain/loss or sex drive issues) HOWEVER around the last 3 months of me taking it I started spotting around the halfway mark in my pack. I also was a complete emotional wreck around my period and my periods didnt start until 2 days before i had to restart my pack and then lasted 2 more days into my pack. Overall i loved this pill because i originally went on it to relieve symptoms of my period (intense cramping to the point that i couldnt get up the first day of my period and horrible pms that lead to awful emotional rollercoasters) the only reason why I had to switch was because the dosage was too low. Overall it was a wonderful pill but after a while my body needed a higher dosage to remain effective. In case anyone wants to know i am now on ortho tri-cyclen lo  :)

Click to report rating    5/27/08   5     3     5     3   I'm 28 yrs. old. I've been pregnant and delivered without complication. I have used birth control in the past, not for over 7 yrs. now. I just finished my 1st pack of LoEstrin 24 FE and it has performed just as my Doctor explained. I try to take it after 7pm. I was drowsy and overly hungry for the first 2 weeks. I spotted twice, but nothing that would cause stains. I had a very light period for 3 days. I'm into pack 2, not pregnant (MY GOAL), and I feel fine. Effectiveness: 5 - worked exactly the way my Doctor & its instructions described/No Side Effects: 3 - happened as my Dr. & its instr. described (I'd rather no side effects, but wasn't terrible)/Convenience: 5 - small enough to carry anywhere and take anytime with or without water/Value: 3 - good contraceptive; could be better if it was free  :)

I cant believe i havnt realized i have been a psychopath because of this pill. this is the first birth control i have ever been on and ive been on it for about 5 months. I am constantly feeling anxious, like i am missing something. CRAZY emotional, with uncontrolable anger. my **** did get bigger, but like a lot of others said very sore. the only time i break out is before my periods which hanvt been bad at all. barely any cramps either. but this emotional crazyness is definitly not worth it. half the time i think im pregnant because of how moody i am. I am moody by nature but not this bad. ive been very very sad. i am defnitly changing pills.  :|

Well all of a sudden I started getting ready intense headaches, getting light headed, all to the point of being very sick. I would never take this pill again. It's terrible to my health.  :(

Click to report rating    5/23/08   5     4     5     4   When I first started taken this birth control pill I thought I was going to die! I would spot all day, it came to the point where I had to wear a pad. So, I called my doctor and she suggested to take two pills until my bleeding stop and after a few days it did. Then I went back to one pill a day. It has worked out great! I have no more side effects! You have to let the pill adjust to your body! It may take awhile if it gets really annoying consult your doctor but DON'T GIVE UP!! TRUST ME! ITS WORTH TAKEN!  :)

Click to report rating    5/19/08   5     4     5     5   look no offense but yall cant expect to not have any side effets when yall only stay on it for like 1 month or so. ive been on it for 10 months and my periods only last 3 days and i never cramp and i never feel bad. it has to get use to your body for a few months and ur body to it before it can really start helping. my first couple of months were bad but now they are great. i mean i love this pill. you just got to stick with it for a while and after more then 1 month if you don't like then switch but by not giving it time to work ur just fing up ur body while you switch every month.  :)

Click to report rating    5/18/08   5     2     3     3   I just finished my first pack. I was on Ortho Tri cyclen lo for one year but i swtiched due to long periods and loss of sex drive. I have only been on it for one month so it may be to early to tell but I am semi happy with it. I have read a lot of reviews about how bad it is so im a little scared of the upcoming months but this first month was alright. I have been extremely emotional and ive had alot of headaches. I have had a loss of appetite and lost about 4-5 pounds in this first month. Hopefully the next couple months will get better and better. Good luck to all of you!  :|

Click to report rating    5/16/08   2     1     2     2   I have been on this bc for 8 months now for ovarian cysts. I have tender breast, nausea, mood swings, barely have a period what so ever, and still get pains in my stomach from my cysts. All though it had taken away some my pains and I have lost weight it still gives me too many side effects. Like I can't sleep but it makes me feel tired and weak. Sometimes I don't feel like doing anything because I feel like my energy has been sucked out of me. Theres even times when I use the restroom my pains come back. I would have to say this drug is somewhat effective but the side effects sometimes makes me think I want to be on a different bc.  :(

Click to report rating    5/16/08   3     4     5     3   I just started this pill but I have had the weirdest side effects with past pills and this one is going well so far. I was on a pill last year that did wonders for my skin but I was sick every single day. I looked great, but only my doctor really noticed because I was always going to see him. I was on one in the past that caused my legs to go numb at night. Birth control pills are very personal and these reviews serve mostly as a reminder of what to look out for. I have been less hungry and more active on these and my skin is healing from a month of not taking anything but no new break-outs. We shouldn't complain so much about having to try a bunch of pills to find the right one for us. Not all that long ago it was a one pill fits all or tough luck world! Hopefully this pill will continue to work for me. I wish you all luck in finding your right pill, before you get sick of trying.  :)

Click to report rating    5/15/08   3     1     3     2   I've been on this birth control for a week & I feel like I'm dying. I've had nausea & vomiting & I've already lost 5 lbs. I'm now only 100lbs & I'm getting smaller everyday. I've also had a lot of abdominal discomfort. I don't really have terrible mood swings, but I am also on mood stabilizers. I am however somewhat depressed but I just went through a break up. To top everything off I have been lightly bleeding every since I started taking this. Ok..I'm going to go vomit now!  :(

Click to report rating    5/15/08   3     2     4     4   I have been using this pill for about a week now. I know, I know thats not long, however, I just wanted to say that in this past week I have had quite a few side effects. I know that they say that this might occur (It usually does). The side effects I had were dizzyness, headaches, stomach aches, and more emotional than usual. I did cry this week a lot, and I also was very moody. Over all I am happy with the pill. I think the main reason I was having these side effects was because I wasn't taking the same time each day, and I took them in the morning. My doctor recommended that I take them at the same time each day, and at night so that I wouldn't experience the side effects as much. Hope this helped for anyone that is taking, or thinking about taking it.  :|

Click to report rating    5/12/08   4     1     4     2   I have been on birth control for several years due to ovarian cysts. I am now married and my doctor recently put my on loestrin 24 Fe. This is probably the 10th birth control I have tried over the years because of side effects: emotional and weight gain. I will say I wasn't as hungry when I took these pills. I went from 120 lbs to 117, not much change. I have never had a problem with acne until I started these pills. Two days into the pack my face broke out and after a week, my face a back looked horrible. I have never experience anything like this before. I was very emotional also. I am not sure if it was from the pill or that my face looked so terrible. I tired to finish the pack, but it just got worse. I stopped with 6 pills left, and had my period for over a week, but my face and back are finally clearing up and I feel like me again. Obviously, this pill is not for me.  :|

Click to report rating    5/6/08   5     2     3     3   I have been on loestrin for almost 2 years now. The first month was horrible. I felt sick to my stomach the whole month. After the first month everything was great until recently. Over the past few months the break through bleeding has been driving me nuts. I am a nurse and wear white pants for work & have ruined a couple pairs because of the break though bleeding. I spoke to my doctor & she said it is not a problem from a medical stand point but it has been driving me crazy because it is so unpredictable. I am going to try and ride it out to see if things get better but i really cant stand ruining clothes & underwear when everything was fine earlier (when i first started taking this pill). I have also noticed an increase in my appetite. I only totally skipped my period once & was freaking out because i thought i might be pregnant and had to run to the store to get a pregnancy test. I thought this pill was wonderful when I first started it but now i'm considering trying a diffrent one  :|

Only problem - I've NEVER missed a period in my life, and I was supposed to start Fri. Still nothing, and tests are negative. Hope it does not turn up positive at the end of the week. Click to report rating    5/2/08   1     1     3     1   I started taking Loestrin 3 days ago to lessen my pms and perimenopausal symptoms that were occurring in day 18-27 consistently, however the side effects are exactly those I was hoping to avoid, but worse. Extreme fullness of **** and breast pain, tiredness, cramping in the night, and digestive discomfort. Today is my last day on this pill. It might make sense "medically" on paper to take loestrin for perimenopause, but as you can see from real trials by all of us taking it, it does not in actuality work.  :(

Click to report rating    4/30/08   1     1     1     1   Basing my ratings on all you all have said! OMG! I would be on day 4 today, but not now! Stopping it RIGHT NOW. In 3 days, I can tell you I've been moody (pill? maybe-maybe not) and bloated and really eating much more than ever-not sure why that's happening. Scares me to death about the blood clots (had scare in my younger days) & thanks, but I like having a sex drive- so these pills are LATER! I thought a little estrogen would help deal with some of this peri-menopause issues, so I listened to my doctor (who said, you trust me- don't ya??). Too many of you are saying it's terrible and I like this site. It's been pretty "right on the $", so I trust all of YOU. Thanks for the insight.  :(

Click to report rating    4/29/08   5     1     1     1   I'm on my 4th month, like the other users, the first 3 months were TERRIBLE. I ruined so many pairs of underwear from RANDOM bleeding every so many days...usually in the morning, and would disappear by the afternoon, only to surprise me a few days later. SO STUPID! Now I'm on the 4th month, and surprise! NO PERIOD! Am I pregnant? Is it just the stupid pill, since I read that can happen? I don't know any woman who wants to miss periods, since how the crap would you be able to tell if you're pregnant? I'm a married, mother of 2, and we will be trying for a 3rd later this year, and I cannot WAIT to get off of this stupid stupid pill! I was on Ortho TriCyclen in college and I never had a single problem with it. I also hate the packaging, not as easy to use as Ortho.  :(

Click to report rating    4/22/08   5     4     4     4   First off I want to say to anyone reading these reviews, you have to take the BC for about 3 months to know whether or not it's going to work for you. Not everyone has the same side effects, or the same opinion, so reading these really won't help. The best BC I was on was Yasmin, but it was to expensive at 45 dollars a pack. I haven't had any real problems with this pill, I was put on it after having an abortion, so I'm bleeding right now anyways. and my headaches are from the antibiotics, I'm a nurse, trust me on this, take if for the full 3 months before you make a decision.  :)

Click to report rating    4/20/08   4     4     5     5   i LOVE this pill! I have been taking BC pills since 7th grade (I have always had horrible cramps) I was constantly changing pills.I actually I have tried over 10 kinds and I’m only 17. This pill has been amazing.I lost 10lbs in 3 weeks and I my cramps became much more manageable. I used to be prescribed T3’s and now I can just take advil. The only downside is that I have been getting kinda boated however it’s manageable and my mood swings and fatigue are gone. I know from my own experiences that pills work different for every person, everyone’s body works differently. I would HIGHLY recommend this pill. I read other comments that have said they have had their period for many weeks on this pill and I would like to say that this is the first pill that has prevented that. Before this I took sesonel(only 4 periods a year)I had my period for two straight months on that one! And for one month on the pill before that (i dont knwo what one)on this pill I havnt had any break thought bleeding.  :)

Click to report rating    4/10/08   5     2     4     3   I love that my period is very light and only 2 days. But since switching from a pill that I was on for 5 years (higher estrogen level), I now have cramping and bloating for the first time since I started taking birth control pills. I am also much more irritable and emotional right before my period. The worst effect by far is the damage to my sex drive. It has decreased dramatically in the past 6 months that I have been taking Loestrin. I don't know if the two day period is worth all of the other side effects.  :)

I absolutely love this.It has been the only pill that actually helped regulate my period.I used to be on my period for at 10 days, it was horrible. Thanks to Loestrin now it is down to 4 days, I had no side effects, maybe all of you ladies that had problems should find a good doctor that prescribes the pill. Not all women are the same.  :)

Click to report rating    4/8/08   1     1     1     1   I changed to Loestrin 24fe about 4 months ago after taking Ortho Tri-Cyclin for years... What a mistake! For the first 3 months I had break through bleeding that lasted weeks which kind of defeats the purpose of having shorter periods with these pills. I have experienced serious mood swings including fits of rage and crying spells, I feel like a nut job. I now have headaches all of the time. I have also packed on at least 5 lbs even though my daily workouts/eating habits have remained the same. As if the above was not bad enough, these pills are very expensive ($100.00 for a 3 month supply). I am in the process of switching back to my old pills.  :(

Click to report rating    4/1/08   4     1     1     1   I have been on Loestrin 24 for about 2 years. Before the pill me and my boyfriend had a very active sex life. During the pill I gained 10-15llbs and seemed to be uninterested in sex. I had no idea it could be from the pill, until i started to research it. I was always an extremely active person and being on the pill has made me feel like I never want to do anything but lay around. I can't stand my body and i'm not myself. I just stopped taking the pill and hopefully i'll get my body back and be back to the person i was before this pill. Reading all these reviews definitly helped me because I thought it was just me and had no idea my BC could be causing it. It did give me lighter periods and a 2 size difference in cup size..but along with that came breat tenderness and break through bleeding.  :(

I hung in there since I had just had a baby so I knew things took some time to switch back. My moods were a little snippy. After 3 mos everything started to get better and now I'm lucky if I even have a 2 day period. My mood is better and I never broke out. The only down side for me is the price, it seems a bit expensive but I know it's new.  :)

Then, last week I started spotting over the weekend, then got my period on Tuesday and it hasn't stop yet (one week and one day). I don't know if I should stop taking it or give it a few months. I have not gained weight or anything most of the women here talk about. I really don't know what to do. I was taking Estrostep before but the last three months of taking that it'll make me spot towards the last week.  :)

Since day 2 of taking Loestrin 24 fe I've been an emotional mess. If the mood swings are not enough for me to switch bc pills, the following side effects are...two weeks into my first pack I began spotting so bad that tampons were nescessary. The spotting has continued on through the rest of the pack. My face has been breaking out much more than normal and I have gained weight. Click to report rating    3/5/08   5     4     5     5   I was on Loestrin close to 10 years ago. It was prescribed by my OB for severe PMS symptoms. 7 yrs ago i stopped taking, had 2 children. My youngest is now 3yrs old. I also had a tubal ligation. My PMS symptoms have been worse than ever. Actually, I have PMDD. I tried Yaz which was absolutely horrible. It made my emotional symptoms worse and i felt horrible physically also. I could barely function so i stopped after just 2 wks. I just started the Loestrin again after all these years and so far it as been wonderful. At this point in my cycle i would normally be having major PMS symptoms, but i feel so happy, less appetite. I pray it stays like this because it has been my saving grace!  :)

I am sexually active but not ready for children so it does help me prevent pregnancy. However, I am like a lot of others on here, and rarely get my period. I was getting it regularly in the beginning months, then it went to every other month, and now it's very rare. Because I am not ready for children, it worries me not getting my period and I have to buy preg. tests every month just to help ease my mind. I go back to my doc soon so I think I'll ask for a different brand. I have also had unsually sore and tender ****, especially my nipples. Mood swings and tiredness has been the same, but my headaches and tender **** have been worse. I wouldn't tell someone NOT to try it out b/c bodies react differently. Just giving my input :)  :|

Click to report rating    2/26/08   5     5     5     3   I looooove this pill! Its my first bc pill ever and i've been on it for almost a year. The fourth and fifth months, i had breakthorugh bleeding but that was only because I wasn't taking it at the same time every day (off by about 2 or 3 hours). Since then, ive been taking it at the same time and have had no problems whatsoever. No weight gain, no nausea, no headaches...love it!  :)

Click to report rating    2/24/08   5     3     5     5   I really like Loestrin24Fe because before I started to take it my periods were literally sickening: I threw up atleast 6 times a day every day of my period, it lasted up to a week, I would get so weak till the point I couldn't hold anything in my hands, I would get cold out of nowhere, I would get so drowsy; I couldn't even stay in school, but once I started taking Loestrin I only had my period for about 3 days, I have light bleeding, I have mild cramps, and I can even do physical activities!!!! I love it  :)

I have been on some version of the pill for several years and I have never felt like this. It is awful.  :(

Click to report rating    2/17/08   5     4     4     2   love this pill, Ive lost weight on it and i love the fact that my periods are non exisitant. But this mos ( after 6 mos) I had break through bleeding, Nothing to be worried about- but noticeable & annoying - especially after not having to deal with periods. I feel crampy etc. and I have 10 plus days left on my white pills. Maybe ( i am thinking) I took the pill an hr later than normal the past couple days. So I may just becomes more diligent about timing with when I take it. Otherwise- did not experience weight gain- have lost weight, **** grew & best yet- no pregnancy. luv this pill  :)

Click to report rating    2/15/08   5     5     5     5   I am soon to be 48 years old and I am loving the Loestrin 24 fe. I use to have terrible long periods which included migraines and nausea. I also have had hot flashes and night sweats off and on for entire months and years. Test results showed normal hormones and thyroid. I have found relief with Loestrin. Because of this small change in my life I have not had a migraine since I finished my first pack and no more hotflashes or night sweats. My periods have been cut from 7 days to less than 3 days and where a whole box of tampons and a whole bag of pads was used for each period I now only use light days pads only. My doctor is a saint and thank God for medicines new technologies.  :)

Click to report rating    2/15/08   5     5     5     5   Hallelujah to whoever created this pill. I have only been on this pill for 2.5 weeks but I am loving it and so is my husband. I have my sex drive back, thanks to this pill. I was on Yazmin previously and it completely wiped out my sex drive, caused vaginal dryness and made me gain weight. So far the only side effects I've had are no more vaginal dryness and the increase in my sex drive and I am definitely NOT complaining about those. Wish I had started this pill sooner.  :)

Click to report rating    2/8/08   5     5     5     5   I love this birth control. I have been on many different bc, but none are as good as this one. I think for those who are taking bc for the first time really need to give this one a moment before writing it off. I take my pills right before bedtime with a glass of OJ, that way the pill is doing its job while i sleep. I have fibrods so this helps with the bleeding,TREMENDOUSLY!!!I used to take ortho novum 777, triphaisil,Ortho Tri Cycline, I would always get so nausous. I feel sorry for those this pill does not work for, everyones body is different, just keep searching for the RIGHT ONE!! ( I have found it)  :)

No real side effects except a semi increased appetite and some light depression/moodiness when I first started.I used to have periods so painful I couldnt get out of bed but with loestrin I barely noticed my period at all. No spotting throughout the month either like some people have had.  :)

Click to report rating    2/6/08   5     5     5     4   I've been on this pill for about 4 months now. It is wonderful for me. I used to be on Yaz and it made me so sick. I gained weight, was very moody, and my digestive system was out of whack with pains and bloating. This pill gives me really light periods, a great sex drive, and I haven't gained any weight. In fact, I've lost 20 pounds since starting it. About 5 pounds a month I would say. It was a bit drastic for me, but now I'm at a healthy weight for my height. I'm 19 5'3" and weight 120 pounds. I used to be 140ish. I'll be sure to check with my gyno though to make sure it's okay. But all in all great pill. It really depends what works for each individual person.  :)

No more pills for me now. I was taken to the ER for fear of blood clots and hypertension. I am only 26 years old. I have been off the pill for 1 week now and am feeling better. No period though but blood pressure has returned to normal. Please do not take this dangerous pill.  :(

Click to report rating    2/6/08   5     1     1     1   Ok, so I started taking this pill back in July 2007 and since then I have been an emotional mess. My boyfriend and I have gotten into several arguments over my behavior until It hit me that it could be my pill, now he is understanding and sympathetic. My weight has gone thorough the roof (10+lbs)even though I have completely cut out sodas and fast food except subway and I have never been a big junk food eater nor do I eat large portions. I cannot even predict when I am going to have my period. I also had dizzy spells and headaches for a while which is one of the side effects listed on the pill's website. Every pill reacts different to everyone's body but this pill certainly does not react well with mine. Be sure to do your research before starting or switching pills.  :(

Click to report rating    2/3/08   5     5     5     5   I'm 48 years old and have been on "the Pill" for 25 years. I switched to taking Loestrin24Fe in December 2007 because my periods for the last 6 months (June 2007 - Nov 2007)were extremly heavy and painful. My Doctor recommended Loestrin and informed me I would have minimal to no periods, however it impacts everyone differently. I am now starting my third pack. After finishing my first pack I had a little spotting when I was at the brown pills, and upon completing my my second pack, I did not even have a period. I AM SO....HAPPY!! Now, I do not worry about being pregnat because my husband is "fixed" so the pill is working like it is suppose to for me. I have had no side effects, and hope that this stays the course. If you are using the pill correctly (taking it every day, close to the same time) and do not have a period, do not worry about pregnancy unless you start with other major symptons (i.e morning sickness). So I am extremly pleased with Loestrin24Fe!!  :)

In fact I have noticed weight loss with this pill & an increase slightly in breast size. I did notice I had to stop taking the brown iron pill ( which took away the headaches I experiened when taking them). I take the pill around 9:30 pm every night same time. I also have not had a real period . Last month I did notice some spotting on the brown pills- but nothing major. This month- NOTHING! Like, I said. the weight loss was a major plus. Love it.!  :)

Click to report rating    1/22/08   5     5     5     5   Of course...birth control pills are more effective when a person is younger. A person at age 40 is going through totally different hormone levels within their body than an 18 year old. It is understandable. For those who are prone to weight gain, this is not the pill for them, although, one would think that if a period is shorter, a person would have more time to maybe WORK OUT! I have been on the pill, and I have no problems at all. I am 18, 5'3 115lbs. All of my hormone levels are normal and I don't expierence any side effects that would cause me to dislike the pill. Most women forget that we are all changing our normal body cycle here, so of course, things are going to happen.  :)

Have BAD headaches...but had them before too so can't say it's from the pill. No breakthrough bleeding or cramping. No breast tenderness (which I don't tend to get typically) Sleep same as before (not great) I think these are a little pricey. Within a week, i started bleeding again and thought it was just "break-through" bleeding. Turns out i started another cycle. and then had it again a week and a half later. The first month was rocky, but thats expected, i mean you are starting a type of hormone therapy and you have to let your body adjust. I'm on my 4th cycle. The good effects though are that my achne has cleared up and i now maybe get a small pimple here and there, no break outs. Also, my periods are 3 days long and lighter. I do still get typical PMS, but nothing major.  :)

The first week, I was exremely sick to my stomache but it's finally subsided. For the past four or so days though, I've been spotting and I'm extremly pissed off about this. It basically defeats the purpose of taking the pill in the first place. I have lost a lot of weight by taking it though, probably a good 5lbs. I'm not sure the weight loss is worth the spotting though, plus I keep getting cramps as if I'm going to get my period but it ends up just being spotting. I wouldn't recommend this pill to anyone.  :(

12/6/07   5     5     5     5   Hey everyone. i have been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 3 months now. Never in my life did i see myself starting the pill at the age of 15. Every month before i got my period, about a year before i started taking the pill, i would have very painful cramps, back achs, head achs, nausea, ect. It was getting so bad to where i wouldn't even beable to get out of bed for days. So finally my mom took me to the doctors and i was given a regular and pelvic ultrasound finding out i have an ovarian cyst 5 inches big and a few small ones. I started off taking a pill i never heard of before, but it didnt work so my Gyno started me on Loestrin. I have been feeling WONDERFUL on this pill. my periods only last anywhere from 1-3 days and my pain is gone! My only problem now is i have missed my period this month, but i read that it was normal, but besides that this pill worked for me really well, and saved me for a painful sergery :)  :)

Click to report rating    11/15/07   5     5     5     5   I have been on this pill for almost a year, and I absolutely adore it. I'm only 16, but i started having severe cramps every month. I mean BAD cramps...my mom and my dr. said they were more painful than what many women experience in labor. My parents knew something had to give. I got an ulta-sound and I have a few small ovarian cysts. Once this pill got completely in my system, my periods have been great: Short, and virtually pain-free. I have gained a bit of weight, but that's to be expected. I needed to gain weight anyway. This pill def. gave me back my quality of life. Before I started it, I would miss at least two days of school every month b/c of the cramps. I couldn't stand they got so bad. I'm surprised that many women apparently don't like this pill. I guess all of our bodies are different etc. I have found that taking a multivitamin with the pill every day and taking an iron supplement during my period/just yucky days is benefic  :)

I switched over from YAZ after a year due to horrible stomach aches and extreme moodiness. With Loestrin I no longer get that nauseous feeling I had gotten before. I have had no side affects so far, except for a little weight gain (5 pounds) but nothing else. I take Birth control for ovarian cysts and recommend trying this drug to anyone who can't deal with the side affects of YAZ. Very happy I discovered this BC =)  :)

Click to report rating    10/24/07   1     1     1     1   This pill was awful.. I was on it for a little over a year and I felt terrible. My mood was always changing, I had anxiety which I had never had before, and my body always felt off. The worst part was that it absolutely KILLED my sex drive! It was terrible! Plus my period never came on time.  :(

Click to report rating    10/18/07   5     1     1     1   I've been on this pill for three months and I hate it. I take it at exactly the same time every day, I've never missed a single pill. Yet I get extremely frequent break-through bleeding and spotting, sometimes so bad that I need to wear a tampon. Its also given me really bad breast tenderness for the past month, and it makes me cry all the time! I'm extremely dissatisfied with this pill, and I've made an appointment with my doctor to switch in a few days. The side effects are just too bad!  :(

Click to report rating    10/17/07   1     1     1     1   I have been on this drug for the past 3 months...The last 2..I have been a complete mess. i decided to switch to this pill because of my previous weight gain...and all i got from this was extreme depression, a non-existant sex drive, and mood swings...Since I started..I have been getting my period every 2 weeks and they would last me a week and a half..I do not recoment this to anyone..but then again, it all has a different effect on the individual..mine..HORRIBLE!!  :(

Click to report rating    10/12/07   1     1     1     1   I was a PSYCHO on this drug. I took it due to my low iron within my system and it made me extremely moody, nasty and irritable. I didn't have any interest in anything. I hated work. I didn't want to study. I didn't want to workout. I honestly, believe that this drug made me a little OCD, I would be upset if something was out of place or if the dishes weren't always clean. I was always cleaning and being b*tchy. My life was hell because of this pill. I had changed pill packs 4 times in 5 years. I have been on YAZ for the past three months and I am so happy! This is the best pill for those who have a "moody" period than most.  :(

Click to report rating    10/10/07   3     4     5     5   I have been on this pill for 7 mos for heavy and crampy periods. The first few months were great. However, as time went on the cramps came back and the duration of period is gradually getting longer. A little moody toward the end of the pack, other than that no other side effects  :)

Click to report rating    10/5/07   5     4     4     4   I have been on this for six months. People comment that you bleed if you do not take it at the same time every day. If you want any pill to be effective that is the case. Take it at the same time and the problem lessens. I had problems on ortho-tri. Had a baby in March and my fantastic doctor thought this would be the best option for me. There are side effects for every pill. In terms of weight gain, I had none. I lost my baby weight due to exercise and watching my diet. This pill has been great for me.  :)

Click to report rating    9/30/07   5     1     3     1   Horrible!! I've only been on this BCP for about 4 weeks and I've been bleeding for the last 14 days, my mood swings and anger and anxiety are through the roof, I've almost admitted myself to a psych ward, I feel that bad. My body does not feel right, everything is off, im depressed and miserable and just out together that this pill is the reason. MY bf is having trouble dealing and so am I. Not to mention i never had cramps before I started this pill. Miserable, I would just say to be very very careful when looking to try this one. Oh yea and blood clots in the brain, scary!!! My headaches have been bad so I'm glad for the heads up..Thanks..  :|

Click to report rating    9/29/07   5     1     3     3   I am so moody. I am angry for no reason, sometimes from the minute I wake up in the AM. I feel SO anixious and it is making it hard to be at work and focus. My mom called me a "real ****" today and my boyfriend told me I am a lot more high strung that I have been before. Get me off of this. The periods were great and all (3 days very light) but I am not happy anymore.  :|

Click to report rating    9/27/07   1     1     1     1   BEWARE! I was on this drug for three months and almost died. Woke up in the middle of the night with a headache. Turns out it was three blot clots in the brain! I'm in good health with no previous health issues. Do your research, several postings on the web of exactly the same symptoms as me.  :(

Click to report rating    9/23/07   5     5     5     5   this pill is awesome. I took other pills and they all made me so sick. This was like my last hope and it is great. I haven't experienced any side effects at all and since it is such a low hormone pill that its a really great option for younger people.  :)

Click to report rating    9/17/07   5     5     5     5   I used to be on Seasonal and I hated it because when I got my period, it was really heavy. I haven't had a period since being on Loestrin 24 Fe (about a year now) and even though I was worried about it at first, my doctor told me that this is what happens with some people. I love not having periods because I would stop exercising on those days and would feel very crampy. I have now lost over 30 pounds because I feel great. Until a doctor tells me that I must have a period, then I will forever be free of them. Love this pill.  :)

Click to report rating    9/13/07   4     1     3     2   I took Kariva for a few years before switching to Loestrin. I never had break-through bleeding or a missed period on Kariva. Since taking Loestrin for the last 7 months, I have experienced break-through bleeding twice and one missed period. I also feel more tense and fatigued. I called my doctor and have switched back to Kariva. I would rather deal with a longer period than all the side effects I experienced with Loestrin.  :|

Click to report rating    9/11/07   5     1     1     1   Ok, left last comment. Have more to add...it's been a week since I left last comment. I take it everyday at 12. I wake up at 9:30am and by 11 I'm bleeding. 12 I take it, and by 3 when the b.c. is in my system I start to CLOT!!! BAD!!! Talking half dollar sized clots!!! So THANK THE LORD this Thrus. I am switching back to my Ortho Novum!!! NO ONE deserves having a period lasting more than a month STARIGHT AND clotting because a stupid pill doesn't work right.  :(

Click to report rating    9/7/07   5     1     3     1   Been on it a month so far. Taking it everyday at same time. Doctor DID warn me that I could have spotting and bleeding through to the 3rd pack until my body gets used to it. But I was on Orhto-Novum 1/35 for 3 years and NEVER had breakthrough bleeding like this!!...SUCKS! Not only that but I can't enjoy sex w/ my husband as much as I would, BECAUSE of all the breakthrough bleeding!!  :|

Click to report rating    8/28/07   5     1     2     1   I switched to Loestrin 24 fe from ortho evra 2 months ago and as soon as I did, I started having the worst mood swings, anxiety, and had a major case of depression. To add to that, my breast size has shrunk, I now have insomnia most nights, I'm have low sex drive and vaginal dryness, and my period is now non-existent; have not have a period yet and I am now going on my 3rd pack of pills! I'm guessing a birth control pill with as high a progestin level as Loestrin does, does nothing good for me. I'm switching to one that's higher in estrogen, lower in progestin.  :(

Click to report rating    8/22/07   5     4     5     4   At first I had breast tenderness just liek very other pill I tried. It almost made me stop taking it because my **** were so sore. But I read that taking a multivitamin twice a day would help with breaking down the excess estrogen. I was skeptical but it worked for me! Now I have absolutely no side effects. I think its great!  :)

Click to report rating    8/20/07   1     2     2     2   STAY AWAY! I work for a pharma company analyzing BC pills and its effects BOY SHOULD I HAVE stayed away! took it for about 9 months! Everyday same time! had bleeding for 2 weeks every month for about 3 months!! On top of it, had break thru bleeding when i wasnt bleeding the other 2 weeks of the month! Horrible! defeats the purpose of a monophasic 28 days pill regimen! Your only supposed to bleed 4 days on this pill!!!  :(

Click to report rating    8/16/07   5     2     4     4   I have been on Loestrin 24 since March, and the first couple of periods I had was lighter than usual but since the first of May I haven't had a period. It really concerned me and my DR told me that women didn't have to have a period every month. But that is what lets me know I'm not pregnant. I have had all signs and symptoms of pregnancy but HPT that I have taken have showed negative. So I am not really a big fan of this medicine and will probably switch back soon.  :)

Click to report rating    8/15/07   4     1     2     1   Don't touch this drug! I gave it a shot for a few months. The first month or so was okay, abd then I started getting moodswings and gaining weight. After I stopped taking it, I continued to gain weight, become depressed, my **** got bigger, and my next period was over 3 weeks late. After doing a little online research, I found TONS of women who've had similar experiences. When I finally went to the doctor (NOT the one who had prescribed the drug) for a pregnancy test, the nurse told me that this drug can often really mess with your hormones.  :(

Click to report rating    8/7/07   5     4     5     3   I've been taking this pill for a month now. The only side effects I'ce had are breast tenderness, light cramping and mood swings. Also I've noticed weightloss. Although my brest are tender, they are also bigger. I've had NO breakthrew bleeding at all, and I usually fluctuate on the times I take the pill (within an hour). I would recomend this pill.  :)

I am waiting to see if this is my period and or what will happen when i do finish my active pills. The upside is that i dont have mood changes or weight gain.  :|

Click to report rating    8/6/07   5     2     5     3   I am now into my 2nd month of loestrin. The first was hard for a while (headaches which are gone now) but I have had no breakthrough bleeding, my **** are quite tender but also got larger which I didn't mind :-). skin remained clear so far. I can't evaluate it's pregnancy preventing capabilities because I don't take it for that (just want the shorter periods) but so far so good- a little expensive though I think.  :)

Click to report rating    7/29/07   5     1     1     3   I've been on Loestrin 24 for about 8 months. I hate this BCP and I've been on them all over the years. About a week before the last pill I start bleeding, so I end up with a period that lasts a week and a half every month. Pretty much defeats the purpose of a 24 day pill, and is longer than my periods were on the 21 day regime. Can't wait to get a different prescription. (And yes I take it at the same time every day, and never miss a day).  :|

I've felt plenty of nausea and plain not feeling well. I am using it for shorter periods as well as birth prevention. I've had spotting and break through bleeding, yet.. it's short.  :|

Click to report rating    7/26/07   5     5     5     5   Out of Yasmin and orthrotriclen, this is the best bc i've been on. I get period on the last day of my iron pills so it only lasts for a day. I do get very sensitive emotionally the last week i'm on it but its great. Less cramping and less bleeding. Ive only spotted once and that is because i missed a pill. Ive missed a pill since then here and there and i havent spotted again when taking two. I highly recommend this bc compared to the others ive taken, i do not feel like i'm going crazy with moodswings and my periods have never been better.  :)
