Click to report rating    11/16/09   5     1     5     1   I was on the drug for only a week and went off it. I landed in the emergency room about to have a stroke. They put me back on it. After several years of being on Klonopin,my doctor decided she did not want to perscribe it anymore. I had horrible withdrawal for over 6 weeks. Ended up with nuropathy in my feet and hands and part of my face. It should be taken off the market. It is a living hell that the medical profession does not understand enough to be perscribing.  :|

Click to report rating    10/19/09   1     3     2     4   I have found while taking most of these drugs for panic attacks, nerves, agoraphobia, that after you're on them for so many years, the going off them can cause severe suicidal thoughts, depression in general, can't sleep.  :|

Click to report rating    7/22/09   4     4     3     4   klonopins (pins) are very effective and rank among even the best triazolog: xanax, prosom, halcion, etc. the onset is long and not convenient, but makes up for it w/ a long half-life-25,30 hrs. Pins aren't triazolog but they are better then ativan, valuim, tranxene, serax, limbitrol or librium....there are many othets that are better than pins but not many.  :)

Click to report rating    7/19/09   2     1     1     1   I have just recovered from 2 years of severe withdrawal symptoms after taking Klonopin (poison) for many years. I experienced 35 withdrawal symptoms that really tested me. I was NEVER told about side effects or w/d. I was pretty sick a lot of the time when I took Klonopin. And withdrawal is not understood by a lot of doctors. Let THEM take benzos themselves!! See what it does to them. NEVER take this drug!! For aniexty I walk for 45 minutes a day and it works. It is also a lot less expensive and more effective to EXERCISE. Klonopin takes away anxiety, but ruins your mind and your body. I no longer live in a fog. I was admitted to the hospital in a benzo-induced delirium!! Stayed 2 weeks. Do yourself a favor - DON'T TAKE IT! Klonopin may calm you down but it also shuts you down. I made a big mistake and paid for it in withdrawal which was absolute HELL. Good luck everyone.  :(

Click to report rating    2/26/09   5     3     2     3   I just started taking this medication 3 weeks ago. The dr. prescribed .5 milligrams 3x daily. However, even though I suffer from extremely sever panic attacks, so far I have had no problem, despitr the fact that I choose to take only half of what the Dr. prescibed. I only take them when I feel the attack comming on. I haven't found it necessary to take them daily if I'm need feeling the oncomming attack. My husband is concerned i will become addicted, therefore, he has control of the medication so that does not occur. He will allow me .25 milligrams to keep on my person should the need arise. In the past few weeks I have gone 3 - 4 days without the need to take one. Overall, I have found them helpful to date. God willing there be no complications for me!  :|

Click to report rating    1/7/09   5     5     5     5   This drug is very effective for anxiety. I take 0.5mg in the evening before bed and 0.5mg in the morning. I will do this for 4 or 5 days then just take 0.5mg before bed for 3 to 4 days then quit for a while. If you have been on the drug for a while, like a month or two, then you need to reduce your dose gradually, ie..reduce your dose by 0.125mg every 3 days until you are down to just 0.125mg and then take that small dose every other day for a week and you will be fine. I had initially taken this drug for two years straight, 0.5mg 2 x daily for a total of 1mg. When I wanted to come off the drug the reduction schedule that I just wrote about was what I used. I experienced no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I now just use the med on an as needed basis, 3 to 4 days worth, to control "break through" anxiety. I am currently taking Lexapro 20mg at night and have been since starting the clonazepam. The Lex has been the best anti-anxiety med. Hope this helps. God Bless.  :)

Click to report rating    6/29/08   3     1     5     1   If any doctor or psychiatrist recommends Klonopin for anxiety, be prepared! If you ever want to discontinue it, you will have months of hell! This drug is addictive! Figure out what is causing you anxiety FIRST!  :|

Click to report rating    5/25/08   1     1     3     2   Too convenient! After ten years (starting with alprazalom and lorazapam and valium and "graduating" to clonazapam) and onset of major depression, I discovered how addictive it is. With new shrink, weaning off it slowly-- down to .50 mg in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, which now offers only minor relief. Life has been hell. I rue the day when I agreed to take the stuff. I wish I were off all meds b/c there are only palliative benefits. It's a total crap shoot and you DO become tolerant. When major depression hits, you feel that you're at the end of your rope, so to speak. Wish I had never started it-- and all other meds. Debilitating!  :(

Click to report rating    5/14/08   5     4     5     5   i was on this med for a year. I work at night in a bar and have social anxiety. i found that this medicine was a life saver. I had no problems talking to the customers. The only problem i had was slight sleepiness but that side effect was worth it.  :)

Click to report rating    5/5/08   1     1     1     1   I have been taking Klonopin for 10 years (approx. 2mg per day now) and it's awful. Yes, it's helped me get out of the house, but I'm tired all the time, miserable and can feel no joy in life at all. I started it for panic attacks, tried to get off it and couldn't function without it...and worse yet, if you taper off it and decide you want to go back on, you'll need double the amount to get the same effect!! I used to be on 1mg a day until I thought I could get off it. I wish there was another way, but I feel doomed to be miserable and on this drug for life.  :(

4/30/08   5     1     2     2   I took this for anxiety and panic attacks before bed due to chronic insomnia. This was a BAD IDEA. Yes, I slept better and my anxiety subsided, but I had crazy side effects. I became very paranoid regarding my boyfriend (now my husband). I thought he was cheating on me, actually I was convinced of it. So I thought I needed to do the same. My personality completely changed, and I was acting like a crazy person with an increased libido - but not in a a good way. I became dependant on it very fast and started taking more than I was prescribed. I finally went to a new doctor and he got me back to normal. This was not the drug for me!!  :|

Click to report rating    3/13/08   5     2     1     2   I've taken this medication for over a year. First, let me tell you it is effective for anxiety much more than something like xanax. The bad part, as mentioned, it is very addictive and will cause severe withdrawal. I went two weeks trying to taper off and was down to 1/4 tablet a day vs 1mg x 2 times a day. When I finally stopped taking it, about 3 days later the withdraw kicked in. This includes : insomnia, racing thoughts, severe irritability, feeling that you hear every little sound around you at once and an unwanted euphoric (like your not all there in your head) feeling. I suggest that anyone considering this to look for other alternatives first --- this stuff is a mess to get off of and I've read on other sites some people having withdraw symptoms for over a year. Lastly, a general physician can prescribe this, but, they will usually not prescribe refills because of the addictive nature -- so, you end up paying $70-$100 a month for a doctors visit to get a $20 1 month refil  :|

Click to report rating    1/11/08   5     5     5     5   I have been on 2mg a day for several months, and I have had no side effects whatsoever. It just does what I wanted it to do - stop my panic attacks, and make me calmer, not so angry all the time. I had to stop it for 5 days due to an allergy test I was taking, and felt NO withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. This drug has worked very very well for me.  :)

Click to report rating    9/20/07   5     1     5     5   Highly addictive drug. Use ONLY as a last alternative i.e. full blown panic attacks and/or debilitating anxiety. If you are on it and need to withdraw, you MUST go very, very slowly and even then, expect severe withdrawal symptoms. For support go to benzo.org.uk - by far the most informed source for all benzodiazepines and withdrawal information.  :)

Click to report rating    5/8/07   3     1     3     4   Even very small doses left me drowsy and dopey, clouding productivity at work. Still have some around for those 1 in 100 nights where thoughts are racing too much to allow me to sleep.  :|

Click to report rating    11/5/06   5     3     3     5   I loved klonopin, as compared to the other benzos I have been on. It totally knocked me out when taken at bedtime and stayed with me into the next afternoon as a non-drowsy calm feeling. I took it in the AM once and a 2 lane road appeared to have 9 lanes to me, so that was a problem...don't drive on the full dose of this stuff!...but as far as totally calming my GAD and panic attacks and helping insomnia...nothing compares. I took it 'as needed', but could easily see being addicted if it was a daily script.  :)

Click to report rating    7/24/06   3     1     1     1   This drug works like a dream... until you either build a tolerance or decide to quit. Causes terrible neuropathies and cardio problems. Dr.'s need to tell patients just what the risks are for dependency. Once addicted don't expect to find comfort or help from your dr.  :(

Click to report rating    9/1/05   3     1     4     5   Works well if you have never used benzodiazepines regularly. It is very habit-forming and stops being effective if used too often. Makes you very drowsy, but can be extremely useful for panic attacks.  :|
