I was put on Ativan 2mg every 4-6 hours as need for panic attacks and anxiety. It did not help at all. I have gotten the shots and the pills. If you need a benzo to calm you down I recommend Klonopin if you need to take it daily or Xanax as needed. But be careful. Withdrawal can cause seizures, and you will need to be tapered off of it. |

Ativan worked to help my anxiety and sleep. Trying to get off it is the tough part. My Doctor took me off of it because it is addicting. I have not slept more than 4 hours in 3 weeks. Going without sleep is awful, I don't know when I will get a normal nights sleep again. |

I've been taking this drug for about 3 months. It helped with my panic/anxiety attacks at first but it seems I've developed an immunity to it--doesn't seem to work. Seeing the doctor next week for something else. |

Not that strong, and I build a dependance up to it quickly, but if I haven't taken one in awhile it does the trick. |

Ativan is a very dangerous medication, withdrawl can be accomplished with a private psychiatrist over a 6 month taper period...Withdrawl from this medication less than 6 monthes is Hell!No sleep, constant body ticks etc.. I recommend Paxil 60mg to 80mg for anxiety..High dose of paxil stabilized my life of GAD. |

I suffer from G.A.D and this drug is a reassurance just knowing that I carry them with me if I needed one. I'm prescribed .5 mg as needed. I'm also taking a daily Zoloft 100mg that helps with the anxiety. Ativan has not been addictive to me, due to the anxiety of becoming addicted to it. :) |

My wife is using Ativan and she is incoherent when she is on it. Stays in bed all day. Very addictive and too easy to rely on to help her through anxiety. Basically when she is depressed and working up to something she will take it and tune me out. Not easy on a husband who is trying to deal with it and help her through it. Do not take this drug, please! |

I have been taking this for 8 months. 6 months on 1mg now on 0.25mg. I took strictly for sleep! Helped anxiety so I could fall asleep! No need to increase due to any addiction problem. I beleive that if you truly have anxiety you wouldn't get additcted to anything due to the anxiety haunting you. Overall a great drug when used properly and perscribed by a true physician. |

I would not recommend this drug! I was given a prescription for Ativan after my first anxiety attack that sent me to the ER. It has been three months since that episode, and I am scared to get off of Ativan! I was taking 2 mg daily, and I have tapered it down to 1 mg daily...However, if I go a few hours past the time I;ve been taking it my heart starts racing and I have headaches. I've been sleeping well, but I have felt more lethargic and "out of it' during the day. It feels kind of like a mild hangover. |

Stay away from this drug!!!! I had to keep increasing my dose & when I wanted to get off it, I had the worst withdrawl symptoms I have ever had. I am in recovery from opiates & the withdrawl from this drug was 10 times worse, right down to hallutionations. |

I've taken Ativan (1 mg tablet) only as needed, and have done so for quite a few years, and have had no side effects, and no addictive problems. I have an anxiety disorder and also take Xanax as needed, but I prefer Ativan. |

I have had panic attacks for over 5 years now. I wsa taking Lexapro but decided to get off of it due to weight gain. I take Ativan when needed and I love it. Nothing works better..if I feel like I am going to have a panic attack I take an ativan .05mg and it calms me down. |

This drug should only be used on an AS NEEDED basis. I was given this drug when I was 14 for anxiety disorders that had much more to do with my family life than anything wrong with my brain. I was given 2 mg to take daily. I now take 3.5 mg a day, and I have not been able to get off. This medication is highly addictive. If you have anxiety, I reccomend, first: therapy and spiritual journey, second if needed an SSRI (like lexapro etc), then only as a third resort a benzo like Ativan, and only take it AS NEEDED, not continually! Please learn from the mistakes I made! It will lose its effectiveness, and you'll have to keep taking it just to feel the same. Please read here http://benzo.org.uk/ |

Extremely addictive! I took Ativan for 5 months and couldn't get off. I had to switch to Valium to taper safely and still had major problems. I thank God for my new doctor who helped me. 1 mg of Ativan is equal to 10 mgs of Valium! My taper took 5 months to get off. Nothing is worse than being a slave to this medication. No matter how much you want off, you have to go through a slow taper. Don't cold turkey! |

I can't say much because I only took it one time, but I only took 0.5mg and it caused irregular menstrual bleeding. And at that small of a dose it didn't do ANYTHING, just made me like one degree more tired than I would have been. I'm sure you need a higher dose to feel the effects, but I prefer having infrequent panic attacks, not pregnancy/health scares. |

Started taking .5mg at night for sleep. Caused persistent and severe anxiety after two weeks. Had to start taking antidepressants. Screwed up my life for three months. If you are anxious, try going for a long walk. |

I have only been taking this medication for a month now and so far it is working fine for me. It was recommended to me by a friend who has severe anxiety and she wouldn't take anything else. It works wonders for the initial anxiety and anger. |

This drug is EXCELLENT. I helped overcome my anxiety with behavioural therapy but still I get attacks occaisionally. The 0.5 mg dose calms me down very quickly and helps me get on with my life on those days when I am very nervous. Even half a tablet (.25) works for me. I do not take it more than once or twice a month so I cannot comment on it being addictive. |

Ativan messed me up. I would take .5mg on occasion and would end up in bed all day, tired but unable to sleep. Once I "came to" i didn't have any memory of the day. Not a fan. |

not bad at all, but its moderately effective. i had zero side effects, aside from being a little tired. i was taking 3 mg daily for 2 yrs but it just wasnt helpin my panic attacks that much. i took my time comin off of it. it took me a year to get off of it. i reduced my daily dosage by 0.25mg once a week, but only when i felt comfortable enough to subtract a little. after a year, i got off of it completely without any incident or withdrawl effect |

Works well if you have never used benzodiazepines regularly. It is very habit-forming and stops being effective if used too often. Makes you very drowsy, but can be extremely useful for panic attacks. |
