Click to report rating    10/12/09   4     4     4     4   I've taken it for several years for chronic back pain. Sometimes just once a day if it's a good day. I don't feel any dependency symptoms. I take it only when there is moderate pain and not on any kind of time system at all. On bad days, I have to take something stronger, but the ultram keeps me from taking the Lortab except on absolutely necessary days maybe twice per week at most. It does make me feel wired, but none of other mentioned side effects. I am not on the extended release tablet, however.  :)

Click to report rating    8/1/08   1     2     3     2   I've been taking this for a few days now for shoulder pain from a surgery, sciatica and a bulging and torn disc in my lower back. It's making me really dopey, but I am getting very little pain relief. In fact I think I might be getting more pain from it than relief.  :(

Click to report rating    6/8/08   4     2     4     3   This drug works great for my RLS. It's interesting to read that it caused that symptom for others. I've never used it for pain. Does cause some withdrawal discomfort when I try to lower the dose.  :|

Click to report rating    4/4/08   5     1     3     5   I take 2 Tramadol SR 200Mg's a day for chronic back pain. having damaged 4 disks in my spine, L1, L2, L4 and L5. At this dosage it is very effective at killing pain. and it seems to last the full 12 hours. It takes about 2 - 3 hours to work Being a ST Tablet (Slow Release). however their are a few side effects. the worst one I have had is the storming headache that make a migrant look like a mild hangover. More common side effects include nausea and light headedness, and waves of drowsiness. However, the real problems on occur once you try coming off these tablets if you have been using them for more than a few weeks at a time, they are not addictive as such, its just that the headache is so bad you have to take more to clear it. so you will have to work with your doctor to get the doses reduced properly, or it can be harder than you may like.  :)

Click to report rating    11/12/07   2     1     3     2   My father (85 years old) received two 50 mg. doses 12 hours apart while hospitalized. He became aphasic and totally non responsive for about 24 hours. This was followed by paranoid delusions and hallucinations. He never experienced any delusional behavior prior to taking this medication.  :(

Click to report rating    11/9/07   2     1     5     3   I've been on Ultram for about a year now. This medication is for moderate to low pain relief. I have also found that if I miss taking it for about 4-5 days, then I get horrible withdrawl symptoms. If I take it again I feel normal, but it doesn't relive much of my pain. If I don't take one before bedtime, I can't sleep, which is agonizing. My RLS gets horrible, and you feel like screaming. Taken with restoril, I sleep great. I just can NOT just stop taking them! They are as addicting as any other pill in it's class.  :|

Click to report rating    10/28/07   4     4     4     4   For chronic, moderate pain this is the medication to use. It does not have the side effects of the narcotics and does not lead to the type of addiction that the others do. I take this about twice a day for chronic back and neck pain. The only side effect I ever had was feeling terribly tired. Tramadol is the generic and it is a lot less expensive.  :)

Click to report rating    4/10/07   3     1     3     4   Ultram is weak. I have chronic pain with a bad back and I find it hardly any stronger than 2 tylenol's. The one thing I did find out about Ultram was - if I didn't take it nightly, it would be hard to get to sleep! Without it at night, it made me irritable, and made my RLS worse. So I would say that I am dependent on them. I do believe they can be addicting! ;(  :|

3/21/07   1     2     1     1   It’s just another weak, synthetic opiate. Ibuprofen works better for my headaches than this. It’s really slow to start working. I don’t understand why they made a painkiller with such a slow initial onset. Why take a medication than can potentially cause seizures? Even under the 400mg per day there is a risk. I won’t touch this stuff anymore.  :(

Click to report rating    3/19/07   5     4     5     5   I was having shoulder pain and tramadol worked like a charm. Although I had to take two at a time(Dr. said to take two if one didn't work) I also used it after I had surgery and a bone spur was removed and it helped. No addiction mild side effects(felt slightly buzzed when I took two)works great.  :)

Click to report rating    12/14/06   4     5     5     4   For some people Tramadol is not the right drug...for those people I understand. For me, it is wonderful. I take 100mg at night along with 50mg of Trazodone. It puts me to sleep and I sleep very well. I wake up the next day and feel great. I think it works best in combination with Trazodone, but that's me. It also helps for anxiety/OCD. It's good.  :)

Click to report rating    7/30/06   3     5     5     3   I took this for headaches. Maybe it is a good medication for other types of pain, but I found that it had very little effect when taken alone. I did find that I had some better results when taking it either with tylenol (ultracet) or a NSAID (usually indocin, Mobic, Volteran, or Daypro. I am assuming that the same would be true for ibuprofen)  :)

Click to report rating    4/16/06   1     1     3     2   It did nothing for my pain. I took one pill (and the only one) and I was in bed for 24 hours. Was too dizzy and sick. Took a total of 4 days to get back to normal.  :(

Click to report rating    10/6/05   2     1     1     1   Where to begin? I took a total of 2 doses at the specified times. Shortly after my second dose(aprx.1 1/2 hrs.) I began to feel like I was hallucinating. A little while later, I could barely walk..which was very dangerous because I was at a highschool football game with my 6 yr.old and my 2 yr.old. Within another hour, I began to break out into hives all over the tops of my thighs. I had to go to the hospital and get a Benadryl shot. I thought that that was the end of the matter. About a week later, I had another "hallucination episode" while driving. Back to the hospital I went. the doctor then informed me that what I was experiancing was very common for Ultram and that many people have had the same complaints that I was having. He then told me that these symptoms were just common side efffects of the drug and that it would take up to 2 weeks for my body to metabolize all of the drug out of my system. Use caution if you're taking this drug.  :(

Click to report rating    9/19/05   3     3     3     3   Ultram is extremely addictive. You will not hear this from a pharmacist or doctor, but believe me, it is. I was taking it for a year for colitis. It was very hard to get off of it and I had lots of withdrawel symptoms. It's okay to use here and there, but I would not use it every single day for more than a week or two or you will be hooked.  :|

Click to report rating    8/17/05   4     4     5     5   Pretty good pain realiver. I take it as a subtitution to tylenol because of an allergy. The only side effects I found were towards the beginning of its use I would feel very tired from it, but that fades after using a few times.  :)
