Im 23 and have been taking addies periodically when I need to study or have a long day ahead of me. Before I couldn't study for more then a couple hours, now I can sit down and study for 8 hours easily without even getting out of my chair. Ive typed 10 page papers in a coupe hours on this stuff, works great. You do get some dry mouth, loss of appetite, and restlessness, but if you just force yourself to eat and take them at a decent time, it really shouldn't be a problem...Another great thing about it is that it definitely makes me more social and participate more. Sometimes I cant stop talking because topics just keep popping on my head. I usually cut my doses in half 10-15 mg and only take it when I NEED it, works wonders...The best way to describe it would be a non-threatening steriod for your brain |

Adderall XR. This drug with the generic cost 50 bucks! I called my insurance and the name brand is only 30!!!! Now that I've started on the actual Adderall, instead of generic, IT IS MUCH LESS JAGGED. Now I know what that word means!!! Thank God! I've had ADHD all my life and just now Diagnosed @ 31 years old after a lifetime of problems, as well as docs just throwing Zoloft, Busbar, Wellbutrin, Paxil, Cymbalta and few others at me over the years and unless things around me were routine and perfect, I couldn't get it right. This is my second day on the Name Brand, after 2 Weeks on the Generic and I am grateful now. I just wonder if those first couple days on it wouldn't have been so hard on me if it wasn't the generic. That was CRAZY! And I searched all over the internet for 1st day on Adderall and "euphoria" kept coming up. That was definitely the word I was looking for. On top of heartburn, dry mouth, jitters, upset stomach, loss of appetite, but I am happy I have it now |

I'm 21 yrs old. I've been taking 20mg XR for 1 yr now, for school (w/o prescription). I've always been a poor student, I could never read a textbook for more than 5 mins w/o being distracted. I now take it to focus in class and to study, which is about 2-4 times a week (sometimes 2x a day). It kicks after about 40mins and lasts 6 hrs(female, 110 lb). It totally wakes me up & keeps me restless, I can't eat when I'm on it, I can study for 5+ hrs straight, my GPA is now 3.6 (compared to 2.0 before taking it), I heavily participate in class(I never used to), it gives me dry mouth & makes me crave cigarettes more, my OCD comes out when I'm on it. It makes me want to study & be the best. I can't fall sleep until 5am(even if I took it at 8am) & it gives me horrible sleep. I lost 10 lbs, but my weight still fluctuates because I don't take it on weekends and I normally eat a LOT. I have become dependent on it to do well in school, but I NEVER get urges to take it when I'm not in school. |

I took this pill for about a year honestly i felt terrible while i was honest. my body felt like it was over stimulated. my heart would beat any were from 100 to 130 beats per minute by the time 4 pm came i felt like i had been running a marathon the whole day. maybe this was just me who felt this way. The only reason i put up with it was because it really helped me lose weight considering, i was pretty chubby before but i came to the point where it wasn't worth it. as far as concentration it helped . I just let it go maybe 8 months ago and i have gained about 27 pounds back ! |

I have been on adderall for 5 years now, and I am on 30mg twice daily. I have had only small effects like the not sleeping and dry mouth, but I have learned a routine to avoid those. The only bad thing is I had to raise my levels, so I am worried I will have to change soon cause the effect is different then when I was younger. We will see! |

My husband has been on adderal xr for about 3 weeks now. He was on Straterra before that. With straterra he had so much more patients with all tasks and our son. But couldn't seem to bring it home with mental lists and keeping things straight in his head. Now he is on adderal xr and I want him off of it! He is very irritable and you never know how he'll react to a comment or to a question from our son. Always grumpy and has no patients. His Dr. is seeing him in a few days, he can't believe the medicine would have this effect. Does he read the side effects or patients comments? Wish me,my son and our new baby due in a couple months lots of luck! |

hi....
I have been on adderall for about 3 months now and I am 17 years old. I am on 30mg now. I think it is great, I have mostly all A's in AP classes. So yeah it is working great for my school work and sports. I have not lost any weight, maybe only 2 pounds. But I go to bed every night at 12 and wake up at 6. And I used to be a very outgoing guy and in a long relationship. Since I have been taking adderall make life is TOTALLY different. I hate it. The only thing I like about it is that my grades are amazing. My social life went down the drain. I am sooo quiet and angry now. Before I was loud, happy, and people wanted to be around me. Now it's like whatever.... So i dont know what to do... I took my ACT without adderall and got a 22. A month later on adderall i got a 30. It is worth it some times...but not others.... |

They should give this drug to people who are both unproductive and obese. Eating lunch became an annoyance and so of course I lost weight. The day I went off this drug, I felt like I hadn't eaten in a year. I also felt like I was looking at the world through a tube. I'm a snappy and social guy, but this drug made into a zombie. I tried to power-through that effect but just found myself stuttering and making no sense. However, I did have a leftover pill that I used when I took my GMAT and did very well. If doctors could prescribe a drug for special occasions this would be a good thing, but I would rather be totally ADD than take this stuff daily. |

My child started taking this when she was 6 and the side effects were too much to handle. Weight loss, trouble sleeping, and finally to the point of not wanting even fluids. Put her on Metadate-CD, and it was much better choice in medication. She slept much better, and even ate better, got her through most of the school day. |

I am 23 years old and was diagnosed with ADD when i was 13. I was on adderall for 3 years and switched to XR after. I didnt notice the side effects until i was a senior in high school. I have struggled with sleeping, relationships (due to the emotional effects i am overly sensitive and believe i have developed depression from it), loss of weight(especially earlier on, not so much now. kinda wish it was the other way around after being in college 3 years), cotton mouth, sexual side effects, and most of all dependency. when i tried going off the drug for a year the withdrawals were hard to deal with. i slept most of the day for about a month and gained weight from increased appetite. after the withdrawals had finally ended, i felt happier and easier to be around. my relationships were great and my depression was gone. all side effects had disappeared. i felt more like myself off the drug. but my grades in school suffered. i got back on the dosage and all the old side effects came back. |

My scrip was written for Adderall 30mg but am currently at 15mg. I'm working my way up because I was concerned about feeling too "spun out". I notice a huge difference even after 2 weeks. I can concentrate, am able to organise & function more efficiently. I'm also able to think through stressfull situations.I can sleep....my mind actually slows down at the end of the day & it's just been so much easier to relax. I feel like this drug may be the answer I've been in searh of...I can't help but think that my life would have been so much easier if I'd have started this stuff years ago. I'm 29 & for the first time ever am starting to feel "normal". So far I've experienced no negative side effects. Best of luck to anyone who'se just started or is considering this as a treatment option! |

I've been on Adderall for the last 8 months at 15mg/day. No side effects except dry mouth at first and sometimes lack of appetite. Lost 15 lbs which needed to be lost. Yay! And now instead of constant mood and energy swings during the day I'm at an even keel. Am more emotionally in control. At work I am more content and not as frustrated with boring periods during the day but can ride them out. It also helps me control my impulsivity and not act out on every whim that comes along. I have found recently though that the effectiveness was wearing out so my dr. has increased my dose to 20mg which I will try out tomorrow. I haven't taken a day off of Adderall because I like the sanity of being on it. Not as many racing thoughts. I guess I should take a day off but am afraid to get a headache. Has anybody had any side effects when they have taken a few days off? All in all I am very satisfied. I don't feel like I'm on a drug. I just feel like what normal is supposed to feel like. |

Have only been on Adderall xr for 2 months, the first month was great except the "crash" in the evening when it wore off...the 2nd month though is a different story, the crash is much more severe this month and i feel a HUGE ammount of anger, mood swings, and server irritability. It is to the point where I worry about myself getting angry with my children and my wife has noticed it a great deal. It works well for my ADD, but the side effects make it not worth it. I think I will try Concerta and see how that works, I have heard it has similar benefits, with less side effects. |

Ive been on adderall for ten years.I do not like it at all.It helps me a little in school but I have so many problems with it.Can't sleep, can't eat, maybe a little snack at night and thats it for sometimes 2 days at a time.Have severe mood swings.Causes mild aggression between my family and friends. On a good night I may go to bed at like 12:00 or 1:00 and have to get up at five.It is really addictive I think I need it every day and I question my self do I really need this medicine or not.I would prefer any one out there taking adderall 30 mg.xr try to find a solution without having to take adderall for the same reasons I am; and please write back to this website.I am to scared to ask for help about this medicine from my friends and family even though adderall 30 mg. xr. is prescribed to me.I've lost 10-15 pounds in three weeks.and have not weighed over 145 in the past 2-3 years. And Im 5'8 and 18 years of age.I would prefer nobody to take adderall.I have went from 10mg-30mg.xr |

I have had ADD since the age of 8 but never wanted to admit that I could be an adult w/ ADD. When my work began to suffer as well as my relationships, I realized that I never grew out of it, which is very difficult to admit. Adderall XR so far has been great. I took 10mg for 2 weeks & it did nothing. I now take 20mg & finally I can tell it is there. I'm still not sure if it is to the effectiveness I would like. I may bump up to 30mg. The side effects are so minimal. Dry mouth here & there, & a decreased appetite, my hearing is sensitive sometimes as well. This stuff is changing my life. I listen better, I can actually watch movies all the way through! I don't feel as overwhelmed, & can finally get work done. I don't get angry as easily, & now I finally feel like I'm happy again & can put my life in order & have control over myself. It is expensive even w/ my insurance, but well worth it! |

Made me so irritable and really interfered with my ability to have a conversation. Not so good. Plus, I couldn't sleep with it. I was on the lowest dose possible. Still, of all the stimulants, it worked the best. I'm switching to strattera currently. |

I've been on adderall for a little over a year and it does have some serious side effects; loss of apitite and it can hide the effects of severe drowsiness, so when it wears off you might crash, but this can be avoided by simply sleeping.
Oh, and if your in high school or college hide it because people will try and steel it |

didn't work at 10 mg but then raised up to 20 and worked a little too hard on my body. gave me lots of headaches and palpitations, but didn't want to complain to doc. All of it went away and unless I drink cofee, I don't get jittery or anything. Overall, it works great and I can do extensive studying and get the grades that I want without dozing off and thinking about other meaningless things. I do notice a bit of a sexual side effect though. anyways, xr works great! I would deffinately reccomend this drug to anyone who isn't looking to get a high off of it. I can see how it can become addicting, and it would suck if the addicts ruined it for the people who really NEED to use it! So don't abuse it, it will kill you. |

Switched to Adderall XR (20mg) recently after 9 months on Strattera (80mg) and haven't looked back! Side effects of Strattera were severe (drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth, etc). Adderall XR causes moderate loss of appetite and mild dry mouth, but nothing severe or disruptive. I am usually a rather quiet, reserved person, but I have noticed I am more talkative and less anxious when on this medication. It is potentially addictive, but I can take it only on the days I need to (e.g. on the days I have class), and it takes effect in 30 minutes and lasts about 9 hours -- unlike Strattera, which must be taken every day and takes weeks to become effective. I don't notice any jitteriness at 20mg, and I have no trouble sleeping at night. My productivity SOARS when on this medication! I also notice it makes me feel more calm, and I am a noticeably better (less aggressive) driver on the days I take it. If you have AD/HD I would strongly recommend discussing Adderall or Adderall XR with your doctor. |

Does wonders to help you concentrate. Lasts long, so don't take it too late in the day. Take drug holidays here and there, as the body builds up tolerance to it within a few weeks. It's a stimulant, so you'll have little appetite while on it. I was about 245, 250ish when I started using it, and now I'm around 195. Also, it's not called "kiddie coke" for no reason. |

Adderall Xr is great if you have to pay attention for long periods of time seeing as it lasts around 10 hours. You get work done fast, enjoy the work you do, and put a greater amount of effort into what is required of you, all this for a relatively small amount of money. Addiction is possible and dependence likely if Adderal Xr is used for an extended period of time consistently. You will probably have trouble sleeping when you start using it. |
