Elavil was the first drug I was given for depression in the 1970's. It did make me feel much, much better but I also gained a lot of weight. Lost 30 lbs. at Weight Watchers. I have used this for insomnia and it works well for me. |

I have taken AMitriptyline 50mg for over 5 years. I take it at bedtime for chronic pain. It works well if you want to be put to sleep. It helps you stay asleep too which I love. Love this drug!! |

It helped me years ago @ just 20mg @ bedtime. This time I am already up to 60mg. divided up through the day and still have periods of anxiety and alot of nausea. |

I have been taking 10 mg at bedtime for 10 years for fibromyalgia and insomnia.I would like to come off it but it is very difficult due to withdrawal symptoms. I am very tired during the day and it also causes weight gain.I am trying to wean myself off by taking l/2 every other night. I feel much more alert on the days I haven't had any the night before. |

This has helped with major anxiety ever since they increased the dosing for me. You just have to find the right amount. It also decreased migranes SOOOOO much. It's good stuff. |

This drug did nothing for my depression and gave me an extremely dry mouth, but it is an excellent sleep-aid. It's much gentler than trazodone, and the sleepiness feels more "natural." |

I take this drug for a # of reasons. It has reduced my migraine exponentially. I can sleep through the night with it. And It reduces anxiety, but not perfect. Improvement is shown though! |

It's great for insomnia. I've been taking 25 mg per night for a few months now and fall asleep about 30 to 45 minutes after taking it. I've read somewhere it can cause constipation in higher doses. |
